Kota Samarahan, 16 March 2018: The MOU signing between Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) and Malaysia Pepper Board (MPB) marks another milestone in effort to engage partnership and collaboration between Universities and Industries. Represent UNIMAS, was the Vice Chancellor YBhg Professor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi while for MPB was represented by Director General YBhg Dr Harry Entebang. UNIMAS has always strived to seek research collaboration with industries and always open doors to beneficial alliances that benefitted both the people and the country. This collaboration provides a win-win situation for Malaysia Pepper Board and UNIMAS in quest for new discovery and knowledge. The knowledge gained from the partnership activities will hopefully benefit our human capital development, economic and the community at large. The signing of this is very timely as the state government is charting activities towards digital economy. With this collaboration, both UNIMAS and MPB can offer their expertise to elevate knowledge and technical know-how in modern agriculture and techniques based on futuristic technology such as the Internet of Things and Big Data Analytics. 19^th March 2018: As part of its corporate social responsibility, the Clinical Simulation Centre, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UNIMAS conducted a special first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) course for a group of kindergarten teachers. The 1-day training session conducted in collaboration with HIKMAH, Kuching trained a total of 18 kindergarten teachers on the essential skills for managing common medical emergencies, performing lifesaving CPR and use of AEDs. The teachers attending the training took a highly commendable proactive role in ensuring their personal proficiency to respond to medical emergencies and enhancing safety at their workplaces.

KOTA SAMARAHAN, 17 March 2018 : Nurses are driven to provide innovative solutions to facilitate the delivery of healthcare and nursing advances, said Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni) UNIMAS, Professor Mohd Fadzil Abdul Rahman, during the opening ceremony of the 9^th Regional Nursing Student’s Conference (RNSC2018) this morning.

He said, the emergence of Industrial Revolution of 4.0 (IR4.0) is leading technology towards providing better healthcare services especially in disease management, aging and the discovery and development of new medical innovations.

According to Professor Mohd Fadzil, graduates of this era will enter an entirely new way of delivering healthcare services where robotic are connected to computer systems and move innovations into practice in a way that is safe, responsive and high quality.

“ Therefore, it is hoped that his conference will not only be a platform to share thoughts on modern and present day practices but also on ways to deliver trained and safe practices, “ he said.

He also thanked all committee members of RNSC2018 for making the conference a reality and welcomed all speakers and participants from overseas to experience the beauty of Kuching city.

KURSUS KEPEGAWAIAN TEKNIKAL OLAHRAGA GRED 3, 2018

Seramai 43 orang peserta yang terdiri daripada staf UNIMAS telah mengikuti Kursus Kepegawaian Teknikal Olahraga Gred 3, 2018 pada 12-13 Mac 2018 bertempat di Stadium UNIMAS. Kursus ini adalah anjuran Unit Latihan & Media , Pusat Sukan dengan kerjasama Unit Latihan , Bahagian Pembangunan Modal Insan (BPMI) dan Persatuan Olahraga Sarawak. Ucapan aluan telah disampaikan oleh Pengarah Pusat Sukan, Prof Madya Dr Azhaili Baharun. Beliau amat teruja dengan sambutan dan sokongan daripada para peserta yang mengikuti kursus ini. Harapan beliau para peserta dapat menimba ilmu daripada kursus ini dan bersedia berkhidmat kepada universiti sekiranya diperlukan. Setelah menamatkan kursus selama 2 hari secara teori dan praktikal , para peserta akan menduduki peperiksaan Pegawai Teknikal Olahraga Gred 3 pada 7 April 2018 di mana ia akan diadakan serentak di seluruh negara. Semoga para peserta kursus ini akan mendapat lulus dengan cemerlang dalam peperiksaan itu nanti.

The Secretariat of Knowledge Transfer Programme (KTP) is inviting researchers to submit proposal  under the theme "Life Long Learning" for the third cycle for year 2018.

Detailed information and application form on KTP grants can be obtained either at ktc.usm.my or as per attachment. For those who are interested, please submit your completed application to UNIMAS Innovation through your respective Faculty/ Institute before 26 March 2018 to be vetted at expert panel level. Each university will then submit the best 3 projects to the KTP National Secretariat for their final evaluation and selection.

KOTA SAMARAHAN, 29 April 2019 – Sebagai usaha menyemarakkan program membaca, Pusat Khidmat Maklumat Akademik telah mengambil inisiatif menganjurkan Program Cinta Ilmu selama dua hari bermula 29 April lepas sebagai menyokong Read@UNIMAS dan menarik minat membaca dan memupuk kecintaan kepada ilmu dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS.

Objektif program adalah untuk menyemarakkan semangat membaca dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS,memupuk kecintaan kepada ilmu pengetahuan, menggalakkan kempen menderma buku dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS serta meningkatkan kesedaran budaya membaca di kalangan masyarakat.

Kota Samarahan, 20 March 2018 – Bunga Raya College (BRC) held its 12^th Annual Bunga Raya College Week (BRC Week) on March 10-18, in Bunga Raya College, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS). More than 6,000 participants from Kota Samarahan and Kuching attended this mega event.

The purposed of the event was to raise funds for upgrading the college facilities, to train and develop the leadership skills and teamwork amongst the students, as well as to allow students exposure in terms of event planning and management.

BRC Week 2018 themed “Reinvention of Tradition” hosted 45 events that covered sports, arts, health, career, religion, environment, as well as education. The opening ceremony on 13^th March was graced by Tuan Haji Azlan Bin Ramli, the Director of the UNIMAS Student Service Centre as well as Mr Mohd Hafiez Izzwan Bin Saad, the Principal of Bunga Raya College.

The event featured a bazaar, ‘BRC Town’, which consisted of 40 stalls that sold food, drinks, and various knick-knacks. Participants also showed off their talents during the dance, acoustic, public speaking, debate, e-sports, sports, dikir barat and pidato contests that were held during the event. Kota Samarahan, 19 Mac 2018: Memorandum Persefahaman (MoU) yang termenterai di antara Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) dengan University of Malta hari ini membuktikan komitmen bersungguh UNIMAS untuk mengembangkan sayap ke persada dunia.

Naib Canselor UNIMAS, Profesor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi berkata UNIMAS sentiasa mencari peluang untuk bekerjasama dalam penyediaan kursus-kursus dan program-program bersesuaian dalam meningkatkan kualiti pendidikan negara.

“ Saya percaya, kerjasama yang termenterai hari ini akan memberi manfaat kepada kedua-dua Universiti seterusnya memperkayakan akademik dan budaya inovatif serta penyelidikan,” kata Naib Canselor dalam teks ucapan beliau yang dibacakan oleh Pengarah Pejabat Canselori dan Hubungan Antarabangsa (UNIMAS Global), Profesor Madya Dr.Abang Ekhsan Abang Othman petang tadi.

Sementara itu, Ketua Jabatan Kaunseling dan Ahli Senat University of Malta mewakili Rektor University of Malta, Dr Dione Mifsud berkata MoU itu membuka laluan kerjasama antara dua universiti pada masa kini dan masa akan datang.

Beliau berkata, selain pertukaran staf dan pelajar, kerjasama lain turut ditekankan seperti penawaran program baharu yang bertepatan dengan keperluan manusia sejagat yang mementingkan perbezaan budaya dan bangsa di dunia.

Kota Samarahan,  30 August 2018: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Universiti Malaysia Sarawak and Estream Software Sdn. Bhd, Malaysia with the aim of establishing a basis upon which UNIMAS and Estream may explore areas for cooperation and collaboration such as research, staff engagement, industrial study visits and student industrial placement.

This event was officiated by Ybhg Professor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi as Vice-Chancellor, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak and Mr Desmond Law Hoe Yan, Managing Director of Estream Software Sdn. Bhd, Malaysia.

This event was witnessed by Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Associate Professor Michael Tinggi and Ms Ong Bee Wei, the Education Advisor of Estream Software Sdn. Bhd., as well as Unimas staff and other invited guests.
