      KOTA SAMARAHAN, 24 Mei 2017 : Seramai 37 anggota keselamatan UNIMAS yang terdiri dari 30 lelaki dan 7 wanita telah berjaya menamatkan Kursus Latihan Asas Polis Bantuan Siri 1/2017 di Pusat Latihan Polis (PULAPOL) Kuching pada 19 Mei 2017 setelah menjalani kursus selama dua bulan sejak pertengahan Mac lepas. Mereka merupakan antara 266 orang pelatih yang mengikuti latihan berkenaan yang melibatkan tiga belas agensi antaranya UNIMAS (37), Jabatan Ketua Menteri (4), Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (33), TA Ann Holdings Berhad (67), Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (7), Palmhead Management & Consultancy Sdn. Bhd (10), Shell MDS (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd (2), Telekom Malaysia (3), Jabatan Kerja Raya (9), SALCRA (12), BLD Plantation Berhad (74), KTS Group Of Companies Sdn. Bhd (5),  dan Tanjung Manis Integrated Port Sdn. Bhd (3).     KOTA SAMARAHAN, 22nd May 2017: 10th  UNIMAS Research and Development Expo 2017 or known as Innovation and Technology Expo (InTEX17) was held on 18th May 2017 in Universiti Malaysia Sarawak. It was a day for researchers of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) to shine at the expo as they competed for the title of Best R&D product. The event was organized by UNIMAS INNOVATION with the theme of “Strengthening Research and Innovation for Communities Sustainability”. InTEX17 this year is also one of the event which is organized in line with the celebration of 25th Silver Jubilee UNIMAS. 311 innovative and creative products from different fields of research which are clustered into social science and humanities, technology and engineering, pure and applied science  and information and communication technology were showcased.     Kota Samarahan, 22 Mei 2017 – Majlis Penyerahan Sumbangan Gawai 2017 berlangsung di Auditorium Pusat Khidmat Maklumat Akademik,  Sumbangan telah disampaikan oleh Timbalan Naib Canselor, Hal Ehwal Pelajar and Alumni UNIMAS, YBhg Profesor Mohd Fadzil bin Abd Rahman Majlis ini merupakan program tahunan yang dikelolakan oleh Persatuan Wanita Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (MASNITA) bertujuan antaranya untuk memupuk semangat toleransi dalam kalangan ahli serta mengeratkan tali persaudaraan kepada golongan yang memerlukan dan kurang berkemampuan. Sumbangan Gawai ini telah disampaikan kepada 10 orang pelajar UNIMAS yang terpilih. Hadir bersama adalah Setiausaha Kehormat MASNITA, Pn Laila Abg Ahmad yang mewakili YDP MASNITA iaitu Datin Kartini Ahmad.  Majlis penyampaian sumbangan ini juga turut dihadiri oleh beberapa AJK MASNITA yang lain.

      KOTA SAMARAHAN, 18 Mei 2017 : Kempen Know Dyslexia, “turn doubts into hope” telah dianjurkan oleh pelajar Tahun 3 Program Kajian Komunikasi dengan kerjasama Persatuan Disleksia Sarawak yang bermula dari 22 Mac 2017 sehingga 14 Mei 2017. Terdapat tiga agenda utama yang diketengahkan melalui kempen Know Dyslexia iaitu meningkatkan kesedaran komuniti dan warga UNIMAS khasnya, mengenai disleksia, memberi gambaran yang jelas tentang masalah pembelajaran mengenai disleksia dan mengumpul dana untuk disumbangkan kepada Persatuan Disleksia Sarawak. Antara aktiviti yang dijalankan sepanjang kempen diadakan seperti perasmian program tayangan amal, filem Taare Zameen Par, sesi perkongsian bersama Mr. Chuah Kee Man yang merupakan pensyarah UNIMAS, mempromosikan larian amal Run for Dyslexia, lawatan ke Persatuan Disleksia Sarawak serta larian amal Run for Dyslexia. Kempen ini berjaya mengumpul sebanyak RM5,000 dengan majlis penyerahan replika cek telah diserahkan kepada bendahari Persatuan Disleksia Sarawak iaitu, Encik Richard Sia Chun Huat selepas selesai sahaja larian amal ini.       KOTA SAMARAHAN, 18 Mei 2017 : Lebih 2,000 orang pelajar UNIMAS yang mengikuti kursus kokurikulum berkredit (PPD1032) tidak melepaskan peluang menyertai Karnival Ko-Kurikulum 2017 di Dewan UNIMAS, Kampus Timur, kelmarin. Karnival tersebut yang bertemakan ‘ Share Moment, Share Culture’ menyaksikan 60 subteras KoQ yang ditawarkan pada semester ini membuka gerai masing-masing dengan mempamerkan aktiviti-aktiviti subteras masing-masing. Majlis penutupan program tersebut telah disempurnakan oleh Dekan Pusat Pembangunan Pelajar, Profesor Dr Siti Raudzah bt Ghazali. Dalam ucapan ringkas, Profesor Dr Siti Raudzah menyatakan penganjuran karnival tersebut dapat memupuk kerjasama dan merangsangkan pemikiran kritis para pelajar.  “ Karnival ini sebagai medium untuk kita mengeratkan silaturahim dalam kalangan pelajar dan staf UNIMAS serta ia dapat menyerlah bakat pelajar dalam hal-hal berkaitan penganjuran majlis. “ Saya berharap UNIMAS dapat melahirkan generasi pewaris pembangunan negara yang memiliki semangat perpaduan dan kesukanan mecakupi pelbagai rutin kehidupan, berketrampilan baik dan sebagainya,” katanya lagi.       KOTA SAMARAHAN, 16 Mei 2017 : Kem Jelajah Masa Hadapan telah diadakan selama tiga hari dua malam bermula 12 hingga 14 Mei lepas bertempat di Asrama Yayasan Sarawak. Kem ini telah dianjurkan oleh sepuluh orang Duta Universiti Zon Sarawak di bawah lantikan Kementerian Pendidikan Tinggi serta melibatkan seramai empat puluh orang pelajar terpilih dari tingkatan satu hingga tiga Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Melugu, Sri Aman. Kem ini bertujuan untuk memberi pendedahan kepada para pelajar luar bandar terutamanya pelajar SMK Melugu tentang pentingnya menimba ilmu dan meneruskan pengajian ke peringkat yang lebih tinggi. Para pelajar juga diberi input yang berguna melalui pelbagai aktiviti yang berunsurkan karier, bidang pengajian serta bidang pekerjaan yang ada pada hari ini. Objektif ini dijalankan adalah selaras dengan  4 prinsip utama Strategi Lautan Biru Kebangsaan iaitu berimpak tinggi, Kos rendah, pelaksanaan pantas dan mapan.        KOTA SAMARAHAN, 16th May 2017 : More than 100 participants from various schools in the Southern Zone had attended Training and Industrial Awareness Program (TRIA) at UNIMAS on 14 – 15 May 2017 organized by The Workforce Development Unit (WDU), Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Bumiputera Sarawak (TEGAS) and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS). TRIA at UNIMAS was initially officiated by UNIMAS Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni), YBhg Prof Mohd Fadzil Abdul Rahman at CAIS Auditorium and also attended by respective faculty leaders on STEM related programs. The purpose of this program is to create training and industrial awareness among students by connecting school, institution and industry.     Kota Samarahan, 15th May 2017 - The Financial Technology Enabler Group (FTEG) conducted a FinTech Hacks session at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) recently at the Centre of Academic Information Services (CAIS) Auditorium. The three hours  session was attended by 50 students from various undergraduate programs in UNIMAS and it is a part of Bank Negara (through FTEG) initiative to identify pain points in the delivery and consumption of financial services. FTEG was established by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) in June 2016 and acts as a cross-functional committee responsible for formulating and enhancing regulatory policies to facilitate the adoption of technological innovations in the Malaysian financial services industry. Chaired by Encik Aznan Abdul Aziz, Director of the Financial Sector Development Department, it serves as BNM’s dedicated contact point for fintech related queries including on regulatory matters related to the adoption of fintech in the financial services industry. Fintech, short form for financial technology, refers to computer programs and other technology used to support or enable banking and financial services. Globally, it is estimated that the value of fintech investments will be around US$40 billion by 2020 (source: statista – The Statistics Portal).     KOTA SAMARAHAN, 12 Mei 2017 : Naib Canselor UNIMAS, Profesor Dato’ Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi mengetuai warga UNIMAS untuk majlis mengangkat Ikrar Bebas Rasuah (IBR) bersempena dengan Hari Integriti UNIMAS 2017 yang berlangsung hari ini bertempat di Arena Gemilang, DeTAR PUTRA UNIMAS. Hari Integriti UNIMAS 2017 diadakan selama dua hari dengan pelbagai aktiviti sampingan diadakan antaranya forum integriti dan larian integriti dengan kerjasama padu di antara UNIMAS dan Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia (SPRM). Majlis ini menyaksikan semua warga kerja UNIMAS mengangkat ikrar secara beramai-ramai dengan disaksikan oleh para pegawai SPRM dan menandatangani sijil IBR iaitu bukti untuk komitmen bersama memerangi gejala rasuah. Dalam ucapan, Naib Canselor menyatakan ikrar warga UNIMAS yang komited dalam usaha untuk membudayakan integriti pada setiap fungsi dalam segenap lapisan organisasi sejajar dengan hasrat UNIMAS memantapkan integriti penjawat awam melalui amalan tadbir urus yang baik, membina kompetensi, meningkatkan keberkesanan sistem penyampaian perkhidmatan dan produktiviti warga kerja khususnya di Universiti ini.
