    KOTA SAMARAHAN, 21 Mac 2019 – Pusat Perancangan Strategik, Pengurusan Kualiti dan Risiko (SQRC) telah menganjurkan Bengkel Transisi MS ISO/IEC 17025:2017 selama dua hari bermula 20 hingga 21 Mac 2019 bertempat di Bilik Multimedia, Pusat Islam Tun Abang Salahuddin (PITAS). Bengkel adalah bertujuan untuk memberikan kefahaman berkaitan transisi dokumen dari versi 2005 ke versi baharu MS ISO/IEC 17025:2017. Seramai 20 orang staf terdiri daripada staf sokongan teknikal, Pegawai Sains dan Pensyarah Fakulti Kejuruteraan (FK) serta staf daripada Fakulti Sains dan Teknologi Sumber (FSTS) yang terlibat dalam Skim Akreditasi Makmal Malaysia (SAMM) menyertai bengkel ini. Penceramah bagi bengkel ini adalah Pn Rosnieh Eggat, Penolong Pengarah Kanan, Seksyen Akreditasi Jabatan Standard Malaysia.

    Dr Abigail Jerip, President of Pink and Teal EmpowHer (an NGO dedicated to increase cancer awareness and screen women for breast and cervical cancer) together with Dr Mardiana Kipli, Head of Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Dr Tan Cheng Siang Head of the Centre for Tropical and Emerging Diseases, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UNIMAS has paid a courtesy visit to YB Dato Sri Hajjah Fatimah Abdullah, Ministry of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development for the launching of the Pink and Teal self-sampling HPV diagnostic system. Nearly all cervical cancer is caused by persistent infection by Human papillomavirus. Cervical cancer is a preventable disease by means of effective vaccination and early detection. HPV infection takes about 5-10 years to cause cervical abnormality or cancer. Screening for the presence of HPV genomic materials can, therefore, detect the risk of developing cervical cancer even before any abnormality can be detected by any other traditional tests such as Pap smear. The self-sampling HPV diagnostic system allows women to collect their own vaginal samples at their own time and privacy while the test itself can produce result within 3 hours, one of the fastest HPV diagnostic system in the world.     KOTA SAMARAHAN, 21 Mac 2019 – Dua orang staf SQRC masing-masing menerima sijil Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (APC) dalam Majlis Anugerah Gemilang UNIMAS (MAGU) yang diadakan di Arena Gemilang DeTAR PUTRA di sini sebentar tadi. Tahniah diucapkan kepada Pn Suhazalita Hamzah dan Pn Nurul Izzah Nasir yang telah terpilih sebagai penerima APC bagi perkhidmatan cemerlang bagi tahun 2018. Pada majlis ini, setiap penerima anugerah mendapat sijil APC dan duit sebanyak RM1,000. Tahniah sekali lagi dan teruskan momentum kecemerlangan dalam memberikan perkhidmatan terbaik dalam kerjaya masing-masing.

    KOTA SAMARAHAN, 21 Mac 2019 - Seramai lima orang staf terdiri daripada tiga orang staf bahagian PMO dan dua orang staf teknikal Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) yang diketuai oleh Ketua Bahagian PMO, En Thavasegaran A/L Muthu Manickam telah membuat lawatan penandaarasan ke Pusat Perancangan Strategik, Pengurusan Kualiti dan Risiko (SQRC) pada 19 Mac 2019. Lawatan ini adalah bertujuan untuk membentuk satu hubungan kerjasama yang positif di antara SQRC dan PMO UTP. Selain itu, tujuan lawatan ini juga adalah sebagai perkongsian maklumat mengenai pembangunan dan kemudahan yang disediakan. Antaranya ialah berkongsi maklumat berkenaan proses kerja, sistem, prosedur dan “best practice” di antara SQRC dan PMO UTP dalam membantu universiti masing-masing dalam pencapaian ‘rating’ dan ‘ranking’.Lawatan kerja ini juga sedikit sebanyak dapat menimba pengalaman serta memberi gambaran idea yang boleh dilaksanakan dalam proses kerja di SQRC dan PMO UTP disamping mempelajari proses kerja dan prosedur untuk merangsang amalan kerja yang berkesan.

    KUCHING: Borneo SubOrbitals, a public-private venture involving several tertiary institutions and a local social enterprise, is planning to launch a hybrid rocket from Sarawak within the next three years. Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas), Universiti Malaya (UM) and Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with The Learning Curve (TLC) to research, develop and launch an educational hybrid (solid fuel–liquid oxidizer) rocket on a sub-orbital trajectory from Sarawak by 2021. The other signatories were The Hills Lifestyle Community Lifestyle Hub and Strand Aerospace Malaysia. Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil was present to witness the signing ceremony in Kuching yesterday in his capacity as the programme’s ambassador. TLC founder and the Borneo SubOrbitals project manager Kenneth Chai said the project is aimed at promoting interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) among students and also part of National STEM Initiative’s events during school holiday breaks.       KOTA SAMARAHAN, 18 Mac 2019 : Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) tidak melepaskan peluang menghantar pasukan terdiri dari kakitangan akademik dan bukan akademik untuk bergabung menjayakan pameran Latihan dan Kerjaya Sarawak (SCaT Fair) 2019 yang diadakan selama dua hari bermula dari 15 hingga 17 Mac lepas.   ScaT Fair 2019 merupakan anjuran bersama Kementerian Pendidikan, Sains dan Penyelidikan Teknologi dan Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Bumiputera Sarawak (TEGAS) dan berlangsung di Pusat Konvensyen Borneo Kuching  (BCCK).   Selain UNIMAS, turut menyertai ScaT Fair 2019 ialah para pempamer dari pelbagai syarikat, institusi pegajian tinggi awam dan swasta, Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), Yayasan Sarawak dan jabatan serta agensi kerajaan lain.   Bertemakan ‘Knowledge Inspires Creativity’, SCaT Fair 2019 ini dilihat sebagai platform kepada pelajar lepasan sekolah dan ibu bapa untuk meninjau-ninjau peluang pendidikan yang ditawarkan oleh Institusi Pengajian Tinggi dan peluang pekerjaan sebanyak 2,600 yang ditawarkan sepanjang pameran ini berlangsung.   Antara aktiviti yang diadakan sepanjang pameran berlangsung seperti pameran, seminar dan ceramah mengenai keusahawanan, kebolehpasaran, digital ekonomi, Pendidikan teknikal dan latihan vokasional (TVET), forum bersama belia serta STEM Playground dan Go4TVET.

      KOTA SAMARAHAN : The Department of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), with the support of Sarawak Convention Bureau (SCB) and Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) have successfully conducted ‘1st UNIMAS International Nursing Students’ Conference, in conjunction with the ‘10th International Nursing Students’ Forum on the 9th and 10th March 2019. The conference, organized by the final year nursing students, has broken an impressive record of international delegates as a celebration for their annually conducted conference’s 10th anniversary. Held at DeTAR PUTRA, UNIMAS, this conference has drawn in internationally acclaimed speakers and delegate participation reaching 139 in total from countries such as China, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and Philippines. Adding up with local Malaysian participants, this student conference has racked up an astounding 638 delegates to celebrate the decade benchmark in their tradition.     KOTA SAMARAHAN: Kampung Empila, Kota Samarahan, menjadi antara enam lokasi terpilih bagi program kemasyarakatan bersama komuniti yang dijalankan oleh kumpulan pelajar dari Pusat Pengajian Pra-Universiti (PPPU), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) bagi tahun 2019 untuk kursus PRS1032 Nilai-nilai Sejagat. Antara objektif umum program ini adalah bertujuan untuk memberi peluang kepada para pelajar menjadikan aktiviti kemasyarakatan sebagai salah satu platform bersama dan berbakti kepada masyarakat. Menerusi program ini juga para pelajar boleh didedahkan mengenai corak kehidupan komuniti setempat di samping dapat mengeratkan hubungan sesama pelajar dengan warga kampung terlibat. Melalui program ini juga, para pelajar dapat melakukan aktiviti-aktiviti amal dalam masyarakat seiring keperluan kursus yang diikuti dan saranan semasa universiti berkaitan pembentukan dan pembangunan pelajar yang lebih bersifat holistik. Program yang bertemakan kesedaran keselamatan siber ini diketuai oleh pelajar Winnona Jane Jesnik dan diikuti oleh seramai 120 orang pelajar yang lain serta diselia oleh beberapa orang pensyarah yang diketuai oleh Encik Adrus Mohamad Tazuddin. Kandungan program meliputi gerai pameran, kaji selidik dan permainan yang melibatkan pelbagai lapisan masyarakat setempat daripada kanak-kanak, remaja dan dewasa. Penganjuran dan pembabitan program ini samada dari pihak PPPU, UNIMAS dan Kampung Empila adalah bertujuan memberi dan meningkatkan kesedaran bersama terhadap keselamatan siber.       KOTA SAMARAHAN, 8th March 2019: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kurume University, Japan at the Staff Lounge, University House, UNIMAS, this morning. UNIMAS Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Professor Dr Wan Hashim Wan Ibrahim and President Kurume University, Mr Kensei Nagata were the signatories on behalf of their respective entities. In his welcoming speech, Professor Dr Wan Hashim said UNIMAS have adopted various strategies for education and training in medicine and developing innovative approaches to educating doctors such as community based learning and problem solving.       KOTA SAMARAHAN : Seramai 120 orang pelajar disertai bersama oleh beberapa orang fasilitator dari Pusat Pengajian Pra Universiti UNIMAS (PPPU) telah mengadakan aktiviti kemasyarakatan di Kampung Pasir Panjang, Kuching baru-baru ini. Aktiviti ini dikenali sebagai ‘Community Outreach’  merupakan sebahagian daripada aktiviti yang terkandung dalam kursus PRS 1032 Nilai -Nilai sejagat dengan objektif utama adalah untuk menerapkan nilai-nilai murni di dalam diri pelajar di samping memberi pendedahan kepada pelajar untuk melibatkan diri dalam aktiviti kemasyarakatan di kawasan luar kampus. Aktiviti tersebut bermula pada jam 8 pagi dengan pelajar dan fasilitator bertolak dari UNIMAS dan ketibaan rombongan ini telah disambut mesra oleh penduduk Kampung Pasir Panjang. Sebelum aktiviti bermula satu taklimat ringkas daripada ketua fasilitator Encik Mohamad Razif Othman telah diadakan untuk menerangkan perjalanan program pada hari tersebut. Pengisian aktiviti dilakukan dengan membahagi pelajar kepada lapan kumpulan kecil iaitu melakukan gotong royong di tigas lokasi yang telah ditentukan iaitu di kawasan surau (Surau Darul Salihin), kawasan padang permainan dan kawasan pantai Pasir Panjang. Dua kumpulan kecil iaitu kumpulan generik 1 dan kumpulan generik 6 telah dipertangggungjawabkan untuk membersihkan kawasan surau,kumpulan generik 4 dan 5 membersihkan kawasan padang permainan manakala kumpulan generik 4,5,7 dan 8 telah membersihkan kawasan pantai.
