    KOTA SAMARAHAN: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) has been ranked among the top 10 best public universities in Malaysia in the World University Ranking 2020 (Engineering & Technology).

    “Unimas is very pleased to share the results of the World University Ranking 2020, which has placed Unimas among the top 10 best public universities in Malaysia at seventh place,” said Unimas vice-chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi.

    His speech was read by Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation) Professor Dr Wan Hashim Wan Ibrahim during the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Unimas and the Ministry of Utilities held at the campus here.

    He regarded the recognition as a significant milestone in positioning Unimas’ brand in transforming human capital development as well as influencing its strategic partners and collaborators through various academic sectors.

    “For the first time in our history, Unimas has been recognised in the QS World University Ranking (QS WUR) 2020 and was placed among the top 1,000 best universities in the world at 801.

    “Unimas also placed at 243 among universities in Asian countries in the QS Asian University Ranking 2020,” he said.

    Pengarah SQRC, YBhg Prof Dr Tarmiji Masron menerima cenderahati daripada YBhg Prof Dr Norman Mohd Saleh, Pro-Naib Cansel

     

    KOTA SAMARAHAN, 9 Mac 2020:  Seramai 13 orang staf dari Pejabat Strategi dan Pembangunan Korporat UKM yang diketuai oleh YBhg Prof Dr Norman Mohd Saleh, Pro-Naib Canselor (Strategi dan Pembangunan Korporat) merangkap Pengarah Eksekutif Strategi-UKM telah membuat lawatan ke Pusat Perancangan Strategik, Pengurusan Kualiti dan Risiko (SQRC). Lawatan penandaarasan ke SQRC ini adalah bagi tujuan perkongsian ilmu dan penambahbaikan terhadap proses kerja sistem sedia ada.

    Turut serta semasa lawatan adalah Prof Dr Zaidi Omar, Timbalan Pengarah Eksekutif I Strategi-UKM, Prof Madya Dr Wan Zawiah Wan Zin, Timbalan Pengarah Eksekutif Strategi-UKM, Prof Madya Dr Azlan Shah Zaidi, Timbalan Pengarah Eksekutif II Strategi-UKM, Encik Saidi Ismail, Ketua Penolong Pendaftar Kanan dan Ketua Pentadbiran Strategi-UKM, Puan Zaimi Makhtar, Penolong Pendaftar Kanan Strategi-UKM, Puan Nor Saribon Ramli, Penolong Pendaftar Strategi-UKM serta beberapa orang staf dari Pusat Teknologi Maklumat UKM.

    Rombongan turut berkesempatan berkunjung ke konti UNIMAS.fm dan YBhg Prof Dr Norman sempat ditemubual oleh DJ yang bertugas. Selain itu, rombongan juga sempat melawat Muzium Anatomi serta Pusat Simulasi Klinikal di Fakulti Perubatan dan Sains Kesihatan (FPSK) sebelum berangkat pulang.

    KOTA SAMARAHAN: Fakulti Kejuruteraan, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) telah menganjurkan Majlis Menandatangani Memorandum Persefahaman (MoU) dengan Kementerian Utiliti Sarawak, semalam.

    MoU itu ditandatangani oleh Timbalan Naib Canselor (Penyelidikan dan Inovasi) UNIMAS, Profesor Dr Wan Hashim Wan Ibrahim bagi pihak UNIMAS dan Kementerian Utiliti Sarawak diwakili oleh Setiausaha Tetap, Datuk Ir. Alice Jawan Empiang disaksikan oleh Dekan Fakulti Kejuruteraan, Profesor Madya Ir. Dr. Siti Noor Linda Taib dan Pengarah, Bahagian Pengedaran Gas, Kementerian Utiliti Sarawak, Ir Dr. Martin Anyi.

    Menurut Naib Canselor UNIMAS, Profesor Datuk Dr.Mohamad Kadim Suaidi berkata, MoU tersebut adalah bertujuan untuk UNIMAS membangunkan modul dan menganjurkan latihan dan kursus kompetensi berkaitan dengan pengedaran gas bertekanan rendah di Sarawak selaras dengan Ordinan Gas 2016 dan Peraturan Gas yang diperkenalkan di Sarawak.

    “UNIMAS memainkan peranan yang signifikan dalam membantu kerajaan negeri, yang juga merupakan pemegang taruh utama,yang mahu universiti terlibat langsung dalam meningkatkan taraf pendidikan, sosio-ekonomi selain merangsang penyelidikan dalam bidang keutamaan di Sarawak.

    “Antara kursus yang akan dianjurkan oleh UNIMAS kelak adalah kursus Orang Bertanggungjawab Gas bagi tempat dan premis yang mempunyai pemasangan gas serta sijil kompetensi pemasangan gas bagi mereka yang terlibat dalam kerja-kerja pemasangan sistem gas tekanan rendah seperti restoran dan dobi.

    KOTA SAMARAHAN: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak is developing guidelines and training module courses for the gas distribution industry in Sarawak. Unimas vice-chancellor, Professor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi said the initiative was imperative to ensure the participation of gas competent persons meet the requirements under the Distribution of Gas Ordinance 2016 (DGO2016). “We are confident that, Unimas, through its Faculty of Engineering, and pool of highly qualified expertise and well-equipped facilities, will be able to produce competent persons to take part in related activities in gas distribution,” he said in his speech read by deputy vice-chancellor of research and innovation, Professor Dr Wan Hashim Wan Ibrahim at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) and Ministry of Utilities held at Rumah Universiti Unimas here.     Kuching, 7th October 2020: The Sarawak State Government is awarding sixteen Sarawak Chief Information Officers and Assistant Chief Information Officers with In-Service Training Award to pursue Master in Information Technology Management at UNIMAS, starting from October 2020.

    This master programme is tailor-made for ICT policy makers to broaden the understanding of the value that e-Services could provide for different stakeholders (citizens, public entities and privately held companies, etc.). According to Associate Professor Dr Kartinah Zen, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, two joint-collaboration programmes in e-Governance and community-based field trip, with Tallinn University of Technology and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, respectively are also part of the programme, to foster a proactive ICT sector and forward-thinking government. The students will be exposed to how things are rolling in the ICT sector. Despite the pandemic situation, UNIMAS Vice Chancellor, Professor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim bin Suaidi is confident that UNIMAS is capable to provide the teaching and learning in the new norm by fully utilising one of the university strengths in digital learning and online collaboration.
