Announcement: UNIMAS AHA Training Site Course Calendar 2018 (2^nd Half)

The UNIMAS American Heart Association (AHA) Training Site is pleased to announce its latest course offerings for the second half of 2018.

UNIMAS is an official training site that offers the following AHA Courses:

• Courses for Healthcare Professionals:
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Course for Healthcare Providers
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Provider Course
  • AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Provider Course
• Courses for Non-Medically Trained Personnel:
  • AHA Heartsaver® First Aid, CPR & AED Provider Course

Enrolled participants will receive the official AHA course package upon registration. Participants who successfully fulfill the assessment (written and skills testing) requirements of the course will be awarded with an AHA provider status which is internationally recognized and valid for 2-years.

All courses will be conducted by AHA certified instructors in the Clinical Simulation Centre, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Kota Samarahan Campus. The training facility is fully equipped with simulators of varying fidelity levels to ensure our participants are fully immersed in the training programmes.

Call for Research Grant Proposals_Petronas-P.Ramlee Chair Cycle 2

The Petronas-P.Ramlee Research Grant Chair endeavours to encourage and support research in the following areas :

“Interdisciplinary and collaborative research areas in creative arts, performing arts and arts management particularly in applied and functional design, music, film, drama, theatre, fine arts, electronic arts, animation and any field related to applied and creative arts disciplines.”

Researchers who are interested are encouraged to apply and submit proposals through IRIS (select Petronas-P. Ramlee Chair) and submit the hard copy to the Deputy Dean (Research) of Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts (FACA). Please note the deadline is 31st October 2019.

Kindly note the terms and conditions of the grant are as follow :

• Priority for non-principal investigators or grant holders who’s grants have expired
• Maximum grant duration is 1 year
• Grant output = 1 publication
• Maximum budget = RM10,000
• Researchers are to present and share the findings upon completion of the grant

Mesyuarat Majlis Bersama Keselamatan Dan Kesihatan Pekerjaan Bil. 2/2019 Ke-3

Mesyuarat MBKKP Bil.2/2019 UNIMAS telah dilaksanakan pada 30 September 2019. MBKKP merupakan venue utama pada peringkat Universiti bagi melihat sejauh mana pelaksanaan dan perkembangan KKP di UNIMAS. Perkara utama seperti pelaksanaan Dasar KKP, masalah sepunya seperti kulapok, keselamatan bangunan dan pelaporan KKP peringkat Universiti oleh Ketua UKKP. Sementara JKKP PTj adalah merupakan feeder kepada perkara-perkara yang tidak dapat diselesaikan dalam mesyuarat peringkat PTj dan dibawa ke MBKKP. Latihan fire drill telah menarik perhatian mesyuarat dan disarankan semua PTj mengambil tindakan untuk melaksanakan aktiviti ini secara tahunan.

Kota Samarahan, 8 October 2019 : Weekend With FEB (W2F) has always been the most awaited yearly event by FEBians and it has become a tradition in FEB. This year’s W2F, held on 27^th to 29^th September 2019, brought on another memorable weekend full of fun, laughter, and the beginning of many new friendships.

This annual event is when the first-year students get to bond with their seniors, members of their respective societies, lecturers and of course their peers.

W2F 2019 kicked-off on Friday evening, 27 September 2019, with ice-breaking sessions between the freshies and their respective program society committee members. This year, the fun was taken up a notch as each of the five program societies, namely FIN-ACE, SMART, SICMA, SPADE and UNIMAC had to come up with its dynamic cheers and also a creative society flag that symbolizes the society. The next morning, Saturday, 28^th September 2019 was the most awaited and first ever Inter-Society Championship. The series of creative and exciting games brought on waves and waves of screams of excitement from all present, and the deafening cheers by members of each society for their team. On 18^th of September 2019, Applied Electromagnetic (EM) Research Group (APEMRG) organized a ‘kangeikai’ or known as welcoming party in Japanese. The ‘kangeikai’ is an annual activity that has been done by APEMRG to welcome all new students enrolled under the research group including both final year project (FYP) students and postgraduate students.

Before the ‘kangeikai’, some of the students presented the introduction of their research work to develop mutual understanding on everyone’s research project.  It is hoped that with this ‘kangeikai’, all students in this group will be able to get to know each other, cooperate and help each other in their respective research projects.
