Announcement: UNIMAS AHA Training Site Course Calendar 2018 (2^nd Half)

The UNIMAS American Heart Association (AHA) Training Site is pleased to announce its latest course offerings for the second half of 2018.

UNIMAS is an official training site that offers the following AHA Courses:

• Courses for Healthcare Professionals:
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Course for Healthcare Providers
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Provider Course
  • AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Provider Course
• Courses for Non-Medically Trained Personnel:
  • AHA Heartsaver® First Aid, CPR & AED Provider Course

Enrolled participants will receive the official AHA course package upon registration. Participants who successfully fulfill the assessment (written and skills testing) requirements of the course will be awarded with an AHA provider status which is internationally recognized and valid for 2-years.

All courses will be conducted by AHA certified instructors in the Clinical Simulation Centre, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Kota Samarahan Campus. The training facility is fully equipped with simulators of varying fidelity levels to ensure our participants are fully immersed in the training programmes.

KOTA SAMARAHAN, 14 Oktober 2019: Buat pertama kalinya, Drama Festival Kuala Lumpur (DFKL) 2019 versi Sarawak diadakan dengan memilih Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) sebagai lokasi pertama bagi kalendar DFKL 2019, kali ini.

DFKL 2019 telah diadakan bermula 11 hingga 12 Oktober 2019 lepas bertempat di Fakulti Seni Gunaan dan Kreatif (FSGK) UNIMAS itu telah menarik ratusan peserta yang ingin mencuba bakat masing-masing dalam bidang lakonan.

Masih kekal dengan objektifnya sejak diperkenal pada tahun 2014 iaitu DFKL ingin memberi pendedahan terperinci dan gambaran bagaimana industri hiburan ini berfungsi dari aspek pengarahan, penulisan skrip, kerja-kerja di belakang tabir dan juga kepentingan mempunyai skil dan pakej tersendiri untuk bergelar pelakon. Bukan itu sahaja, DFKL mahu menekankan bahawa jika anda ingin berjaya paling utama anda perlu memiliki bakat, komitmen dan kualiti untuk bergelar pengarah, penulis skrip mahupun pelakon yang disegani.

Perasmian DFKL 2019 di Sarawak telah disempurnakan oleh Menteri Pelancongan, Kesenian & Kebudayaan Sarawak dan Menteri Belia & Sukan Sarawak, Yang Berhormat, Datuk Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

Turut hadir menyaksikan perasmian tersebut ialah Pengerusi Kumpulan Media Prima, Datuk Syed Hussian Aljunid, Pendaftar UNIMAS, Encik Henry Tening ak Sengeng dan Dekan FSGK, Profesor Madya Dr.Musdi Haji Shanat.

Call for Research Grant Proposals_Petronas-P.Ramlee Chair Cycle 2

The Petronas-P.Ramlee Research Grant Chair endeavours to encourage and support research in the following areas :

“Interdisciplinary and collaborative research areas in creative arts, performing arts and arts management particularly in applied and functional design, music, film, drama, theatre, fine arts, electronic arts, animation and any field related to applied and creative arts disciplines.”

Researchers who are interested are encouraged to apply and submit proposals through IRIS (select Petronas-P. Ramlee Chair) and submit the hard copy to the Deputy Dean (Research) of Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts (FACA). Please note the deadline is 31st October 2019.

Kindly note the terms and conditions of the grant are as follow :

• Priority for non-principal investigators or grant holders who’s grants have expired
• Maximum grant duration is 1 year
• Grant output = 1 publication
• Maximum budget = RM10,000
• Researchers are to present and share the findings upon completion of the grant

KOTA SAMARAHAN, 14^th October 2019: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak hosting the tree planting program at Takasago-UNIMAS Educational Forest in UNIMAS West Campus yesterday.

This annual event is an initiative between the joint collaboration between UNIMAS, Takasago Thermal Engineering Co., Ltd and Japan-Malaysia Association.

An area of 10 hectare has been allocated for the establishment of educational forest within the campus of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) for research and training purpose. At present, around 2 ha of the area has been planted with more than 3000 trees from various species. For the next 5 years, it is expected that around 20,000 trees from various species will be planted within the campus from this project.

Takasago-UNIMAS Educational Forest aims to become an exemplary model forest for teaching, research and training of young generation towards promoting effort in restoring and conserving the tropical forest in Sarawak. With the theme of “Takasago-UNIMAS Educational Forest: empowering the importance of forest through education”’ the tree planting activity in return could create and develop potential environmental education programme among UNIMAS students in which fulfil the global agenda especially the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals, also known as the Global Goals, as a ...

KUCHING, 14 Oktober 2019: UNIMAS hari ini menandatangani Memorandum Persefahaman (MoU) dengan Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) bagi kolaborasi strategik pengurusan Dana Wakaf untuk tujuan pembinaan fasiliti Dewan Peperiksaan, Pusat Pembangunan dan Khidmat Teknologi Maklumat dan Masjid Kampus Timur.

Majlis MoU tersebut telah ditandatangani oleh Pengurus Besar TBS, Datu Haji Abang Mohammad Shibli Haji Abg Mohd Nailie mewakili TBS dan Naib Canselor UNIMAS, Profesor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi mewakili UNIMAS dan disaksikan oleh Yang Dipertua Majlis Islam Sarawak, Datu Haji Misnu Haji Taha, Pengerusi Lembaga Baitulmal dan Wakaf, Datu Haji Putit Matzen termasuk barisan pengurusan kanan kedua-dua belah pihak.

Ini merupakan kerjasama yang pertama di antara UNIMAS dan TBS dengan jumlah keseluruhan projek sebanyak RM19 juta merangkumi tiga jenis pembinaan fasiliti berkenaan melalui kutipan dana wakaf di UNIMAS.

Datu Haji Abang Mohammad Shibli menjelaskan penganjuran wakaf seperti ini selari dengan peranan TBS sebagai satu-satunya pihak berautoriti menguruskan hal ehwal wakaf serta bertanggungjawab dalam memastikan pelaksanaan wakaf berkembang dan sentiasa relevan dengan keperluan masyarakat Islam di Sarawak.
