7 April 2018: The Clinical Simulation Centre, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) was honoured to be part of the “Jom Masuk U” Carnival 2018 organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and hosted by UNIMAS on the 7^th to 8^th April 2018. Our exhibition booth received an overwhelming response from the crowd who were eager to learn and have some hands-on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) experience. Our team of trainers, nurses and doctors also took to the stage for a CPR demonstration which saw participations from the Carnival attendees of all ages. On hand were also some “superhero” characters namely Spiderman, Captain America and Deadpool who drew a crowd to our booth when they came to visit.

A team of 10 students of the Faculty of Economics & Business, UNIMAS has received a very warm welcome from Universitas Sebelas Maret UNS of Surakarta, Indonesia 3 - 11 April 2018. The Short Term Mobility Program is accompanied by Dr Norazirah Ayob, Mdm Fadilah Siali, Miss Azuriaty Atang and Mr Naim Kamaruzaman.

During visit, both lecturers and students exchanged knowledge/experience in public teaching and forum. This visit also gave excellent exposure to the students of the differences in the education system and syllabus, and uniqueness of Indonesian culture which ultimately influences the way they do business.

Additionally, this visit has also helps to develop closer relationship between FEB UNIMAS and FEB UNS. We hope the colloboration between UNIMAS and UNS can continue in the future for the benefits of both universities and students.

Objectives

The objectives of the conference are as follows:

1. To promote and disseminate scientific research in the social, biological and medical sciences in Borneo;

2. To enable the research community, public, interested Borneo government departments, and others to keep abreast of ongoing research and its results;

3. To serve as a vehicle for drawing attention to urgent research and its results;

4. To provide a forum for the flow of information on Borneo research arising from many diverse sources;

The Conference will be held on campus at Detar Putra, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, Kota Samarahan, Sarawak, Malaysia.

Buat julung kalinya Pusat Sukan UNIMAS akan menganjurkan Pertandingan Penalti Futsal pada 21 April 2018 (Sabtu) bertempat di Arena Futsal, Komplek Sukan UNIMAS. Pertandingan ini hanya untuk staf dan pelajar UNIMAS SAHAJA. Sebanyak 2 kategori yang akan dipertandingkan iaitu Kategori Lelaki & Kategori Wanita di mana setiap pasukan terdiri daripada 4 orang pemain. Syarat penyertaan amat mudah, tiada had penyertaan dan gabungan di antara staf dan pelajar amat dialu-alukan. Yuran Penyertaan hanya RM30.00 sahaja/ setiap pasukan. Hadiah wang tunai disediakan kepada pasukan hingga ke Suku Akhir. Jangan lepaskan peluang ini!

KOTA SAMARAHAN, 29 April 2019 – Sebagai usaha menyemarakkan program membaca, Pusat Khidmat Maklumat Akademik telah mengambil inisiatif menganjurkan Program Cinta Ilmu selama dua hari bermula 29 April lepas sebagai menyokong Read@UNIMAS dan menarik minat membaca dan memupuk kecintaan kepada ilmu dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS.

Objektif program adalah untuk menyemarakkan semangat membaca dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS,memupuk kecintaan kepada ilmu pengetahuan, menggalakkan kempen menderma buku dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS serta meningkatkan kesedaran budaya membaca di kalangan masyarakat.

Antara aktiviti diadakan seperti gimik perasmian, Jom Baca 10 minit, Read Out Loud  yang dilakukan oleh tiga orang pelajar dari sekolah SK St. Martin, SK Empila dan SK Dato Mohd Musa Samarahan, persembahan nyanyian oleh Adik Sofia Arissa, Read and Write with Emerald, pameran dan jualan buku dan cenderahati, jualan makanan dan minuman (food truck)Yakub

Istimewanya Program Cinta Ilmu kali ini turut dihadiri oleh  Miss Planet International 2019, Cik Viviana Lin Watson,19, yang telah mewakili Malaysia ke peringkat antarabangsa untuk Miss Planet International pada 1 Mac 2019 di Cambodia dan telah merangkul anugerah 2nd runner up Miss Planet International 2019 bersandarkan minat membaca yang mendalam dan mempunyai pengetahuan am yang luas.

Kota Samarahan,  30 August 2018: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Universiti Malaysia Sarawak and Estream Software Sdn. Bhd, Malaysia with the aim of establishing a basis upon which UNIMAS and Estream may explore areas for cooperation and collaboration such as research, staff engagement, industrial study visits and student industrial placement.

This event was officiated by Ybhg Professor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi as Vice-Chancellor, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak and Mr Desmond Law Hoe Yan, Managing Director of Estream Software Sdn. Bhd, Malaysia.

This event was witnessed by Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Associate Professor Michael Tinggi and Ms Ong Bee Wei, the Education Advisor of Estream Software Sdn. Bhd., as well as Unimas staff and other invited guests.

The Memorandum of Understanding is in line with UNIMAS's vision of being an exemplary university through the pursuit of excellence in teaching, research and scholarship.

KOTA SAMARAHAN, 7 April 2018 : Ten officials from the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs (MOCHTA), Bangladesh, visited the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities today.

The delegation was headed by Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on MOCHTA,  Mr R A M Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury,

The visit was part of the delegation’s academic tour to learn from selected countries on the formulation and implementation of inclusive development.

The delegation was interested to know more on how Malaysia, in particular Sarawak, with its multi-ethnicity, addresses the issue of inclusive development.

The Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSSH), Associate Professor Dr Neilson Ilan Mersat and Deputy Dean for Research and Postgraduate, Dr Arnold Puyok, were present to welcome the delegation.

Later on, Dr Puyok also briefed the delegation on the recent research activities by the Faculty especially in the area of indigenous issues in Sarawak.

The sharing session was also attended by the academic staffs of the Faculty as well as representatives from the UNIMAS Business School.   

4^th April 2018 : The Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) led by its Director-General YBhg Datuk Sadik Kethergany paid a courtesy call to UNIMAS Vice Chancellor YBhg Datuk Professor Mohamad Kadim Suaidi today.

One of the main agendas for the visit is to discuss future collaboration between IDFR and UNIMAS. The Institute, which was established in 1991 and initially act as the training arm of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on matters related to diplomacy and international relations, is keen to work closely with UNIMAS in the areas of student internship, staff training and capacity building.

Such collaboration, when materializes, are expected to benefit UNIMAS, particularly the students from the International Relations Programme at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSSH). According to the Dean of FSSH, Associate Professor Dr Neilson Ilan Mersat, there are approximately 300 students in the International Relations Programme at FSSH at present.
