28 April 2018: Students from the Bachelor of Nursing with Honours Programme, UNIMAS collaborated with the Clinical Simulation Centre, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UNIMAS to organize a First Aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) exhibition in conjunction with the Kolej Rafflesia, UNIMAS Open Day Carnival over the weekend.

The exhibition consisted of demonstration stations on various first aid topics including Choking, CPR and AED use. Aside from providing teaching and skill demonstrations, our nursing students also guided participants to perform several essential life-saving first aid skills. Participants who attended the exhibition included members of the public, UNIMAS staff and students. Participants who participated in all the exhibition stations and tried their hands on the skill stations, were awarded a certificate of participation from the organizing committee. Aside from the first aid exhibition, a blood donation drive, car wash and mini games were also organized for carnival goers.

The objectives of the conference are as follows:

3. To serve as a vehicle for drawing attention to urgent research and its results;

4. To provide a forum for the flow of information on Borneo research arising from many diverse sources;

KOTA SAMARAHAN, 29 April 2019 – Sebagai usaha menyemarakkan program membaca, Pusat Khidmat Maklumat Akademik telah mengambil inisiatif menganjurkan Program Cinta Ilmu selama dua hari bermula 29 April lepas sebagai menyokong Read@UNIMAS dan menarik minat membaca dan memupuk kecintaan kepada ilmu dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS.

Objektif program adalah untuk menyemarakkan semangat membaca dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS,memupuk kecintaan kepada ilmu pengetahuan, menggalakkan kempen menderma buku dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS serta meningkatkan kesedaran budaya membaca di kalangan masyarakat.

Antara aktiviti diadakan seperti gimik perasmian, Jom Baca 10 minit, Read Out Loud  yang dilakukan oleh tiga orang pelajar dari sekolah SK St. Martin, SK Empila dan SK Dato Mohd Musa Samarahan, persembahan nyanyian oleh Adik Sofia Arissa, Read and Write with Emerald, pameran dan jualan buku dan cenderahati, jualan makanan dan minuman (food truck)Yakub

Istimewanya Program Cinta Ilmu kali ini turut dihadiri oleh  Miss Planet International 2019, Cik Viviana Lin Watson,19, yang telah mewakili Malaysia ke peringkat antarabangsa untuk Miss Planet International pada 1 Mac 2019 di Cambodia dan telah merangkul anugerah 2nd runner up Miss Planet International 2019 bersandarkan minat membaca yang mendalam dan mempunyai pengetahuan am yang luas.

KUCHING, 25 April 2018. Seramai 33 orang pelajar Sarjana Sains, Pembangunan Sumber Manusia (MSc HRD), Fakulti Sains Kognitif dan Pembangunan Manusia (FSKPM) UNIMAS dengan kerjasama Persatuan Ibu Bapa dan Guru (PIBG), SMK Sungai Tapang, Kuching, Sarawak telah mengadakan program ‘Corporate Social Responsibilty’ (CSR) di SMK Sungai Tapang baru-baru ini.

Pengarah program, Saudara Shahrizul Amizan Bin Sahari berkata, program CSR ini dirangka bagi mempromosikan UNIMAS kepada pelajar-pelajar SMK Sungai Tapang supaya mereka berminat dan berhasrat untuk menyambung pengajian tinggi mereka di Universiti ini.

Beliau berkata, selain memupuk ikatan silaturahim, program tersebut juga bertujuan untuk memenuhi tanggungjawab dalam memupuk budaya prihatin dalam kalangan pelajar FSKPM.

Antara aktiviti yang diadakan seperti penanaman pokok bunga sebagai simbolik kepada program CSR yang dianjurkan, bengkel motivasi kepada para pelajar tingkatan 5 dan aktiviti keceriaan.

Shahrizul juga berharap agar program tersebut dapat memberikan kesan positif kepada para pelajar dan guru-guru melalui program CSR yang dijalankan. Di samping itu, aktiviti keceriaan diharapkan dapat menambah keceriaan kawasan SMK Sungai Tapang.

Majlis penutup dan penghargaan program tersebut disempurnakan oleh Dekan FSPKM, Dr. Surena binti Sabil.

The 7^th International Bornean Frog Race 2018 is a public event that is held annually by the Institute of Biodiversity and Environmental Conservation (UNIMAS) and in partnership with the Sarawak Forestry Corporation. The event is focused on promoting awareness, interest and education about amphibians and amphibian conservation around the world and engages participants in many fun and worthwhile activities, presentations and group workshops.

Held on 28^th April 2018 at Matang Wildlife Centre, Kuching the 7^th International Bornean Frog Race 2018 begins with the Junior Programme which provides station-based learning activities on various conservation themes, artwork activities and offers an opportunity for SMK students to explore what Matang Wildlife Centre has to offer in terms of captive animals, forest walks and plant life.

Following the Junior Programme, the Frog Race kicks off with is a series of notable presentations including various workshops on photography and frog call acoustics. Art workshops will also showcase some of UNIMAS’ best artists as they teach participants different methods and techniques to create unique and worthwhile artwork.

Kota Samarahan,  30 August 2018: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Universiti Malaysia Sarawak and Estream Software Sdn. Bhd, Malaysia with the aim of establishing a basis upon which UNIMAS and Estream may explore areas for cooperation and collaboration such as research, staff engagement, industrial study visits and student industrial placement.

This event was officiated by Ybhg Professor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi as Vice-Chancellor, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak and Mr Desmond Law Hoe Yan, Managing Director of Estream Software Sdn. Bhd, Malaysia.

This event was witnessed by Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Associate Professor Michael Tinggi and Ms Ong Bee Wei, the Education Advisor of Estream Software Sdn. Bhd., as well as Unimas staff and other invited guests.

The Memorandum of Understanding is in line with UNIMAS's vision of being an exemplary university through the pursuit of excellence in teaching, research and scholarship.
