On 24th February 2018, the team with one researcher, two co-researchers, and one research assistant went to visit primary school of Long Lamai. The purpose is to observe the school condition and environment, and get to know the teachers and students at the school. On 25th February 2018, we had a discussion with seven teachers at the school to know in-depth about the challenges and potential for STEM teaching and learning. The next day, we conducted a fun game session with teachers and students to capture the feedbacks and to evaluate the prototype of games. There were fifteen students (mixed of Year 4, 5 and 6) involved in the session. The overall outcome was positive and they enjoyed the game session. The aim of the session is to expose teachers and students about the benefits of games and play in the classroom. This affirmed the team to continue the project with the primary school at Long Lamai.

KOTA SAMARAHAN, 29 April 2019 – Sebagai usaha menyemarakkan program membaca, Pusat Khidmat Maklumat Akademik telah mengambil inisiatif menganjurkan Program Cinta Ilmu selama dua hari bermula 29 April lepas sebagai menyokong Read@UNIMAS dan menarik minat membaca dan memupuk kecintaan kepada ilmu dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS.

Objektif program adalah untuk menyemarakkan semangat membaca dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS,memupuk kecintaan kepada ilmu pengetahuan, menggalakkan kempen menderma buku dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS serta meningkatkan kesedaran budaya membaca di kalangan masyarakat.

Antara aktiviti diadakan seperti gimik perasmian, Jom Baca 10 minit, Read Out Loud  yang dilakukan oleh tiga orang pelajar dari sekolah SK St. Martin, SK Empila dan SK Dato Mohd Musa Samarahan, persembahan nyanyian oleh Adik Sofia Arissa, Read and Write with Emerald, pameran dan jualan buku dan cenderahati, jualan makanan dan minuman (food truck)Yakub

Istimewanya Program Cinta Ilmu kali ini turut dihadiri oleh  Miss Planet International 2019, Cik Viviana Lin Watson,19, yang telah mewakili Malaysia ke peringkat antarabangsa untuk Miss Planet International pada 1 Mac 2019 di Cambodia dan telah merangkul anugerah 2nd runner up Miss Planet International 2019 bersandarkan minat membaca yang mendalam dan mempunyai pengetahuan am yang luas.

KOTA SAMARAHAN, 28 February 2018 : Twenty-one students from UNIMAS and nineteen students from Denmark have shown an interest in helping to promote land use and resource management by participating Sustainable Land Use and Natural Resource Management (SLUSE) Field Course 2018.

The programme marked the 20^th collaboration between UNIMAS anda SLUSE-Denmark

and also 17^th time UNIMAS conduct the joint field course.

For the 2018 field course, a total of five villages in Pantu/Lingga Sri Aman have been chosen for students field course such as Engkeranji, Munggu Sawa, Menuang/Langgir, Menangkin and Keranggas.

For 14 days ( 2 weeks), the students will be divided into several groups and placed in villages where they will conduct an integrated field work.

The students are given the opportunity to apply their knowledge on various methodologies in conducting research throughout this field course.

As an exercise, this group of students will be given a task on a specific topic and conduct and required to conduct research and apply the disciplines in the environmental research with the application of all disciplines in the environmental assessment method.

SUKAN SUKIPT 2018 (UKM, BANGI)

Kontinjen UNIMAS telah berjaya meraih 1 emas dan 2 gangsa dalam Kejohanan Sukan Institusi Pengajian Tinggi (SUKIPT) edisi ke-4 yang diadakan pada 2-10 Februari 2018 bertempat di UKM, Bangi. Pingat emas telah dimenangi dalam sukan Boling Padang acara Women Pairs hasil gandingan mantap Nur Fithri Yaani Hamdin (FSS) 60055 dan Nabilah Nani (FEP) 50163. Mereka telah berjaya mengalahkan lawan daripada UPM dengan keputusan UNIMAS (9) UPM (4) di Komplek Sukan Lawn Bowls, Seremban 2. Manakala pingat gangsa pertama diperolehi melalui sukan tenis acara Perseorangan Wanita yang telah dimenangi oleh Cecelia Lai Yan Fei (K) 54529 yang telah tewas di peringkat Separuh Akhir. Pada edisi SUKIPT 2016 beliau telah mendapat pingat perak. Gangsa kedua UNIMAS adlah melalui sukan Boling Padang , tempat ke-3 Keseluruhan hasil gandingan pemain-pemain boling padang yang terdiri daripada Nur Fithri Yaani Hamdin (FSS) 60055, Nabilah Nani (FEP) 50163, Audrey Judi (FEP) 54508, Nur Hafisah Wan Md Yahya (FEP) 53183, Lim Zhen Yi (FEP) 52340 dan Diyana Abdul Hakim (FSS) 54572. KOTA SAMARAHAN, 2 March 2018 : UNIMAS through the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FCSIT), has been appointed as one of the Centre of Excellence Technology (CoET) for NECT Gen - Industry 4.0 (National Empowerment In Certification & Training for Next Generation Workers) under the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF). 

The CoET certificate was presented in a ceremony at Pullman Hotel Kuching this morning by the Minister of Human Resource, YB Dato' Sri Richard Riot anak Jaem with representatives from HRDF, Penang Skills Development Centre (PSDC), and Knowledgecom Corporation Sdn Bhd (KCOM). 

According to the Dean of Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, Associate Professor Dr Johari Abdullah, the NECT-Gen is a collaboration programme between the HRDF, PSDC & KCOM to deliver on nationwide with Universities/Polytechnics and State Skilled Centers.

He said, UNIMAS will select the students from the 3rd year and 4th year of study, from various faculties in the field of Technology, Engineering, Science, Finance, Business and Management to participate in the NECT-Gen programme.

“ The students will undergo a minimum of 40 hours of training and our first cohort of NECT-Gen IR 4.0 programme will tentatively start in April 2018 for 100 students. ...

Kota Samarahan,  30 August 2018: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Universiti Malaysia Sarawak and Estream Software Sdn. Bhd, Malaysia with the aim of establishing a basis upon which UNIMAS and Estream may explore areas for cooperation and collaboration such as research, staff engagement, industrial study visits and student industrial placement.

This event was officiated by Ybhg Professor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi as Vice-Chancellor, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak and Mr Desmond Law Hoe Yan, Managing Director of Estream Software Sdn. Bhd, Malaysia.

This event was witnessed by Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Associate Professor Michael Tinggi and Ms Ong Bee Wei, the Education Advisor of Estream Software Sdn. Bhd., as well as Unimas staff and other invited guests.

The Memorandum of Understanding is in line with UNIMAS's vision of being an exemplary university through the pursuit of excellence in teaching, research and scholarship.
