Announcement: UNIMAS AHA Training Site Course Calendar 2018 (2nd Half)
The UNIMAS American Heart Association (AHA) Training Site is pleased to announce its latest course offerings for the second half of 2018.
UNIMAS is an official training site that offers the following AHA Courses:
- Courses for Healthcare Professionals:
- Courses for Non-Medically Trained Personnel:
Enrolled participants will receive the official AHA course package upon registration. Participants who successfully fulfill the assessment (written and skills testing) requirements of the course will be awarded with an AHA provider status which is internationally recognized and valid for 2-years.
All courses will be conducted by AHA certified instructors in the Clinical Simulation Centre, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Kota Samarahan Campus. The training facility is fully equipped with simulators of varying fidelity levels to ensure our participants are fully immersed in the training programmes.

UNIMAS is an official training site that offers the following AHA Courses:

Sustainability for Diverse and Dispersed Community
Universities are working in a dynamic and changing landscape of today’s education. In reconfiguring universities for the future, universities need to ensure its relevance as institute of higher learning towards civil, social, economic and moral issues. In response to the calls around the globe for universities to be deeply engaged and networked with societies around it, University Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) had strategically positioned itself by establishing a strategic focus on sustainability for diverse and dispersed community. Being the premier public university in Sarawak, UNIMAS presence in the state plays a very significant and impactful roles in transforming the community via various avenues such as knowledge transfer programme, technology transfer programme and university social responsibilities programme.
The establishment of UNIMAS Community Sustainability Centre, formerly known as UNIMAS Engage, in 2015, aims to lead and coordinate industries and communities related development projects and activities by linking UNIMAS innovative products/services/expertise to solve industry and community problems, and also supporting towards achieving the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Kota Samarahan, 5th August 2019: Centre for Renewable Energy (CREN) Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) has been awarded the Renewable Energy - Off Grid Power - category at the National Energy Award, NEA 2019, for their participation entitled Development of Micro Hydro project for Kampung Assum, Padawan, Sarawak last night at Kuala Lumpur.
Kampung Assum is home to about 35 Bidayuh families and with a population of about 450 people where it is quite normal for two or three families stay together in each house.
The village was initially not connected to the electricity grid, forcing it to rely on costly diesel-powered generators for power. CREN, through a grant of aboutRM 4M, from KeTTHA, completed a designed and build project to provide the basic hydroelectric power supply of 10KW + 5KW systems in 2017.
Today, Kampung Assum is already on grid and the micro hydro system is thereby connected to a small factory hall owned by the community that allows them to conduct income generation activities for the village with free power supply.

Objectives
The objectives of the conference are as follows:
1. To promote and disseminate scientific research in the social, biological and medical sciences in Borneo;
2. To enable the research community, public, interested Borneo government departments, and others to keep abreast of ongoing research and its results;
3. To serve as a vehicle for drawing attention to urgent research and its results;
4. To provide a forum for the flow of information on Borneo research arising from many diverse sources;

The Conference will be held on campus at Detar Putra, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, Kota Samarahan, Sarawak, Malaysia.

International University Carnival on E-Learning 2019 (IUCEL) is to be held in Borneo for the first time at the beautiful campus of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) from 21 to 22 August 2019 with the theme "Inspiring Innovations for Sustainable Futures".
There are various categories of competition and award which open to academics, researchers, school teachers, secondary and primary school students to showcase innovations and best practices on e-Learning applications as well as interactive teaching and learning approaches.
