Announcement: UNIMAS AHA Training Site Course Calendar 2018 (2^nd Half)

The UNIMAS American Heart Association (AHA) Training Site is pleased to announce its latest course offerings for the second half of 2018.

UNIMAS is an official training site that offers the following AHA Courses:

• Courses for Healthcare Professionals:
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Course for Healthcare Providers
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Provider Course
  • AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Provider Course
• Courses for Non-Medically Trained Personnel:
  • AHA Heartsaver® First Aid, CPR & AED Provider Course

Enrolled participants will receive the official AHA course package upon registration. Participants who successfully fulfill the assessment (written and skills testing) requirements of the course will be awarded with an AHA provider status which is internationally recognized and valid for 2-years.

All courses will be conducted by AHA certified instructors in the Clinical Simulation Centre, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Kota Samarahan Campus. The training facility is fully equipped with simulators of varying fidelity levels to ensure our participants are fully immersed in the training programmes.

Kota Samarahan, 25 April 2019: An engagement between Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) and World Bank was held at the Faculty of Economics and Business, UNIMAS. The meeting was chaired by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Associate Professor Michael Tinggi. Delegates from the World Bank comprised Dr Richard Record (Lead Economist), Dr Kenneth Simler (Senior Economist), G. Jeevakumar (Public Sector Management Specialist), Chong Yew Keat (Economist) and Dr Amanina Abdur Rahman (World Bank Consultant). The goals of the engagement are for knowledge sharing between delegates of the World Bank and the academics and students of UNIMAS, and to explore potential collaboration in the areas of research, academic and staff engagement. This includes sharing expertise and joint development of research. In its multifaceted role, which focuses on improving education, health, and infrastructure, the visit is also part of the World Bank’s outreach to disseminate its analytical work to a broader group of stakeholders, including universities.

Objectives

The objectives of the conference are as follows:

1. To promote and disseminate scientific research in the social, biological and medical sciences in Borneo;

2. To enable the research community, public, interested Borneo government departments, and others to keep abreast of ongoing research and its results;

3. To serve as a vehicle for drawing attention to urgent research and its results;

4. To provide a forum for the flow of information on Borneo research arising from many diverse sources;

The Conference will be held on campus at Detar Putra, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, Kota Samarahan, Sarawak, Malaysia.

          Kementerian Tenaga, Sains, Teknologi, Alam Sekitar dan Perubahan Iklim (MESTECC) telah menerima pelawaan daripada Centre for Science and Technology of the Non-Aligned and Other Developing Countries( NAM S&T Centre) untuk menyertai Joint NAM S&T Centre - Zmt Bremen (Germany) Fellowship in "Tropical Coastal Marine Research": Call For Applications For 2019 anjuran bersama NAM S&T Centre dan Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT), Bremen, Germany.

        Program Fellowship ini akan berlangsung selama 3 bulan dan bidang penyelidikan yang menjadi keutamaan adalah bidang Ecology, Biogeochemistry, Geology, Theoretical Ecology dan Modelling, Social Sciences danTropical Coastal Marine Systems.

KOTA SAMARAHAN, 29 April 2019 – Sebagai usaha menyemarakkan program membaca, Pusat Khidmat Maklumat Akademik telah mengambil inisiatif menganjurkan Program Cinta Ilmu selama dua hari bermula 29 April lepas sebagai menyokong Read@UNIMAS dan menarik minat membaca dan memupuk kecintaan kepada ilmu dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS.

Objektif program adalah untuk menyemarakkan semangat membaca dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS,memupuk kecintaan kepada ilmu pengetahuan, menggalakkan kempen menderma buku dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS serta meningkatkan kesedaran budaya membaca di kalangan masyarakat.

Antara aktiviti diadakan seperti gimik perasmian, Jom Baca 10 minit, Read Out Loud  yang dilakukan oleh tiga orang pelajar dari sekolah SK St. Martin, SK Empila dan SK Dato Mohd Musa Samarahan, persembahan nyanyian oleh Adik Sofia Arissa, Read and Write with Emerald, pameran dan jualan buku dan cenderahati, jualan makanan dan minuman (food truck)Yakub

Istimewanya Program Cinta Ilmu kali ini turut dihadiri oleh  Miss Planet International 2019, Cik Viviana Lin Watson,19, yang telah mewakili Malaysia ke peringkat antarabangsa untuk Miss Planet International pada 1 Mac 2019 di Cambodia dan telah merangkul anugerah 2nd runner up Miss Planet International 2019 bersandarkan minat membaca yang mendalam dan mempunyai pengetahuan am yang luas.
