The UNIMAS American Heart Association (AHA) Training Site is pleased to announce its latest course offerings for the second half of 2018.

UNIMAS is an official training site that offers the following AHA Courses:

• Courses for Healthcare Professionals:
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Course for Healthcare Providers
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Provider Course
  • AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Provider Course
• Courses for Non-Medically Trained Personnel:
  • AHA Heartsaver® First Aid, CPR & AED Provider Course

Enrolled participants will receive the official AHA course package upon registration. Participants who successfully fulfill the assessment (written and skills testing) requirements of the course will be awarded with an AHA provider status which is internationally recognized and valid for 2-years.

All courses will be conducted by AHA certified instructors in the Clinical Simulation Centre, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Kota Samarahan Campus. The training facility is fully equipped with simulators of varying fidelity levels to ensure our participants are fully immersed in the training programmes.

Objectives

The objectives of the conference are as follows:

1. To promote and disseminate scientific research in the social, biological and medical sciences in Borneo;

2. To enable the research community, public, interested Borneo government departments, and others to keep abreast of ongoing research and its results;

3. To serve as a vehicle for drawing attention to urgent research and its results;

4. To provide a forum for the flow of information on Borneo research arising from many diverse sources;

The Conference will be held on campus at Detar Putra, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, Kota Samarahan, Sarawak, Malaysia.

Recently, Design Technology program of the Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts has successfully organised the annual orientation camp for its First-Year students. The event was held on November 24 & 25, 2018 at Experimental Theatre, Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts and Sumiran Eco Camp, Rantau Panjang, Kuching. This year’s theme is entitled “neXus 4.0: Future Bonds of Designers”. The event was officiated by the Faculty’s Deputy Dean of Academic Undergraduate and Student Development, Assoc. Prof. Dr Musdi bin Hj. Shanat. The Design Tech Camp 2018 Director, Mohd Rafiq Haslan and Design Tech Camp 2018 Advisor, Dr Terry Lucas also welcomed and thanked attendees (Design Technology lecturers and students) for supporting the event. The orientation focuses on strengthening the bonds among fellow juniors (First-Year students) and seniors (Second-Year students) within the Design Technology program. At the same time, this orientation also prepares juniors to be mentally and physically prepared to embark their learning experience in the Design Technology program. Activities include the introduction of specialisations in Design Technology program (graphic design, industrial design, and textile & fashion), guest alumni talk, PERSENI talk, ice-breaking sessions, team building games & adventure trails.

We are proud to officially announce the launch of Futsal Reservation via Online which has been specially created for the use of staffs and students of University Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS).

For an initial start, we introduced online booking methods for Futsal Court Only and we are still in the effort to strengthen this system to make reservations for other sports facilities in our place. Our goal with this new system is to provide our prospective clients with an interactive & easier way for reservation of our sports facilities and providing more resources & information on our services.

The Institute of Social Informatics (ISITI) is hosting the first Gamification Seminar on the 12th of December 2018. The seminar presents ideas about playful and gameful learning, to extend formal engagement methods in teaching. Gameful learning experience promotes lifelong learning, and reshapes thinking about learning for 21st century knowledge economies and open societies. The seminar taps into playful inspirations of existing traditional games played by various cultures in Sarawak and all around the globe. In the workshop, participants will develop playful solutions to address serious challenges, themes and topics.

Two keynote speakers will speak about gamification of learning, from perspectives and experiences in the UK, the US and in Malaysia. Ideas about gamifying learning through lesson design will be presented in Creative Play sessions during the seminar, to provide a first-hand experience to co-create gamified learning experiences. Success stories by teachers who have used gamification in their own classrooms will also be presented at the seminar.

The venue for the seminar is at a newly designed Gamification Lab, a first in Malaysia, dedicated to gamification research and development to innovate teaching and learning at primary, secondary and tertiary levels.

Pada 1 dan 2 Disember 2018 yang lalu, telah berlangsungnya Kejohanan Olahraga Antara Kolej-Kolej Kediaman UNIMAS 2018 bertempat di Stadium UNIMAS. Sebanyak lapan kontinjen menyertai kejohanan edisi yang ke-7 ini iaitu Kolej Allamanda, Kolej Bunga Raya, Kolej Cempaka, Kolej Kasturi, Kolej Kenanga, Kolej Rafflesia, Kolej Sakura, dan Kolej Tun Ahmad Zaidi.

Kolej Sakura membuktikan keunggulan mereka apabila muncul Juara Keseluruhan menewaskan kolej-kolej yang lain dengan pungutan pingat sebanyak 7 Emas, 5 Perak dan 5 Gangsa. Tempat kedua keseluruhan pula dimenangi oleh Kolej Kenanga (6 Emas, 1 Perak, 3 Gangsa) meninggalkan Kolej Bunga Raya di tempat ketiga yang membawa pulang 5 Emas, 5 Perak dan 8 Gangsa.

Johan Kategori Wanita pula dimenangi oleh Kolej Bunga Raya dengan 3 Emas dan 4 Gangsa manakala Johan Kategori Lelaki pula dimenangi oleh Kolej Sakura dengan 5 Emas, 2 Perak dan 2 Gangsa untuk menewaskan pencabar-pencabar yang lain.

Didinadira Charles Fung daripada Kolej Cempaka membuktikan kehebatan beliau apabila dinobatkan sebagai Olahragawati kejohanan setelah memperolehi dua pingat emas dan satu perak. Pingat emas pertama beliau diperolehi menerusi acara 100m yang telah berlangsung di sebelah petang hari pertama kejohanan. KOTA SAMARAHAN, 29 April 2019 – Sebagai usaha menyemarakkan program membaca, Pusat Khidmat Maklumat Akademik telah mengambil inisiatif menganjurkan Program Cinta Ilmu selama dua hari bermula 29 April lepas sebagai menyokong Read@UNIMAS dan menarik minat membaca dan memupuk kecintaan kepada ilmu dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS.

Objektif program adalah untuk menyemarakkan semangat membaca dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS,memupuk kecintaan kepada ilmu pengetahuan, menggalakkan kempen menderma buku dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS serta meningkatkan kesedaran budaya membaca di kalangan masyarakat.

Antara aktiviti diadakan seperti gimik perasmian, Jom Baca 10 minit, Read Out Loud  yang dilakukan oleh tiga orang pelajar dari sekolah SK St. Martin, SK Empila dan SK Dato Mohd Musa Samarahan, persembahan nyanyian oleh Adik Sofia Arissa, Read and Write with Emerald, pameran dan jualan buku dan cenderahati, jualan makanan dan minuman (food truck)Yakub

KOTA SAMARAHAN, 6 December 2018 : Universiti Malaysia Sarawak and Resident Office Samarahan has successfully organized a talent development programme to upskill higher secondary school children in four schools.

The main objectives of this programme is to develop app creators amongst youths and to ensure Sarawak has plenty of talents in ICT.

The programme is one of the strategic programmes of Samarahan Future 2025, a wholesome strategic plan to transform Samarahan Division until 2025. UNIMAS provided the modules and mentor to guide the students in developing their own app.

The Sarawak Education Department is involved in coordinating with all the secondary schools in Samarahan Division and getting all the students to participate. Another important stakeholders in the programme are the principals of all the schools involved in the competition.

The programme which is funded by the Ministry of International Trade and eCommerce (MITEC) started a roadshow in May 2018 and ended with a judging competition, Samarahan Apps Challenges in Dec 2018 together with the MITEC’s eCommerce Shoutout 2018 at Borneo 744.

The UNIMAS went for a roadshow to fo SMK Wira Penrissen, SMK Muara Tuang, SMK Asajaya and SMK Kota Samarahan.
