    Program UNIMAS Global Staff Outreach (UGSO) adalah satu program latihan jangka pendek yang diwujudkan khas untuk staf bukan akademik di Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS). Program ini adalah terbuka kepada semua golongan Pengurusan dan Profesional serta Pelaksana.

    Penglibatan staf CAIS dalam UGSO kali ini sangat membanggakan. Seramai empat (4) orang staf CAIS yang telah terpilih daripada 6 orang ahli kumpulan akan menyertai Program UNIMAS Global Staff Outreach (UGSO) ke Vitoria dan  Madrid, Sepanyol 19-28 November 2018. Mereka terdiri daripada Puan Norazlina Abdul Rahman & Puan Hejilda Hendrick (Penolong Pengarah Kanan), Cik Noorazerin Alladen (Penolong Pegawai Sistem Maklumat) dan Encik Frederick Jamali (Pembantu Pustakawan Kanan). 

    Objektif Program

    1. Memantapkan penggunaan sistem KOHA terutamanya di kalangan staf
    2. Mengembangkan integrasi sistem KOHA dan sistem-sistem lain di UNIMAS atau yang berkaitan
    3. Melihat kepada penggunaan sistem terbuka CORAL dan VUFIND dan kaedah implementasi di perpustakaan
    4. Bergerak ke arah pengkomersilan perkhidmatan berkaitan sistem perpustakaan bersepadu
    5. Mencari peluang untuk menjalankan kolaborasi di peringkat antarabangsa

    Sepanyol, Eropah menjadi pilihan adalah kerana hampir kesemua universiti awam di negara ini telah berjaya menggunapakai ketiga-tiga sistem sumber terbuka yang menjadi fokus utama kumpulan iaitu KOHA, CORAL dan VUFIND.

    Social Entrepreneurship Society of Engineering Student (SEnSES) had organized a program called Basic Helping Skill Clinic in conjunction of Counselling Month. The program was held at STEM Room, Faculty of Engineering on 6th November 2018 (Tuesday). Targeted participants were the members of SEnSES and students of Faculty of Engineering. There were 31 participants involved in this program. This SEnSES program was in collaboration with Unit of Counselling of Faculty of Cognitive Science and Human Development (FCSHD). The program aimed to help the students to enhance their basic helping skills, improving their skills to listen and to help people in need as well as to enhance their interpersonal communication skills. The program started with a talk by Ms. Kimberly Wee Ming Ming on Introduction of Helping Skills and Effective Helping Process and proceeded with a session by Ms. Cindy Winnie Tan on Stages of Effective Helping Skills. The program ended with a talk and sharing session with Ms. Naziatul Aqma Binti Azhar and Mr. Imran Fahmie Lutfi Bin Rushan Lutfi on Skills on Interpersonal Communication.     Social Entrepreneurship Society of Engineering Students (SEnSES) had organized a talk entitled “The Science of Volunteering” by having Yayasan Salam Malaysia (D’Sarawak) as the speaker for the talk. The talk was held at TMM, Faculty of Engineering, UNIMAS on 7th November 2018 (Wednesday). It was intended for SEnSES’s member as the participant but it is also opened for non-member of SEnSES. The talk aims to introduce the students on the importance and benefits of volunteering for a better community. The invited speakers for the talks are Madam Zakiah Hj. Ahmat, Madam Aisah Mohamad and Mr. Hj. Hamzah Saufi.from Yayasan Salam Malaysia (Sarawak). About 60 students attended the talks which was initiated  by Dr. Nazeri Abdul Rahman, Deputy Dean of Student Affairs and Alumni, Faculty of Engineering, who is all the advisor for SEnSES.
