PROACTIVE MEASURES AGAINST THE OUTBREAK OF THE 2019 NOVEL CORONAVIRUS INFECTION

UNIMAS is aware of the recent events on the Wuhan 2019 Novel Coronavirus in China and other parts of the world, based on information released by the Malaysian Ministry of Health (MOH) and the World Health Organization (WHO). In response and in preparation to face the challenges brought about by the recent events, the University has decided to take the following preventive measures.

General Advice:

  1. Staff and students are advised to avoid all official and personal travels to China. The list of countries will be amended from time to time based on further information available.
  2. Staffs and students are highly recommended to practise standard prevention practices such as the following:
    1. Regular hand washing with water and soap or hand sanitizers.
    2. Practice proper cough etiquette, such as covering the mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing.
    3. Use facemask if showing symptoms of respiratory illness such as coughing and sneezing.
    4. Avoid close contact with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness such as coughing and sneezing.
    5. Avoid raw and undercooked food.
  3. Refer to valid websites such as the Malaysian Ministry of Health and World Health Organization (WHO) for the latest information on the outbreak of 2019-nCoV.
  4. Keep updated with the latest safety and health instruction on health.

For Staff and Students Who has Returned from CHINA

  1. You are required to report yourselves at the UNIMAS Health Centre for the purpose of health assessment and surveillance.   1. Staff and students who had returned from China will have to undergo “home surveillance” for 14 days from the date of arrival into Sarawak. Daily health monitoring will be provided in the 14 days.
