UNIMAS Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FCSIT) Joins Four Other Universities in Borneo to Form Konsortium Komputeran dan Informatik Borneo

Five universities in Borneo have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the establishment of Konsortium Komputeran dan Informatik Borneo (KKIB). The idea of the consortium was initiated by Universiti Malaysia Sabah, led by Prof Dr Abdullah Gani, the current Dean of Faculty of Computing and Informatics. The KKIB’s main objectives are to promote mutual corporation, strengthen academic coorporation and implement postgraduate exchange programs in the field of computer science and information technology.
The three other university partners are Universiti Teknologi Brunei, Brunei, Universitas Mulia, Kota Balikpapan Kalimantan Timur, Indonesia and Universitas Mualawarman, Samarinda, Kalimantan Timur, Indonesia. Prior to MoU, all five partners have virtually discussed on the KKIB initiatives and deliverables on 27 July 2020 using online platform.
Furthermore, through this KKIB partnership, FCSIT has recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Universitas Mulia on research matching grant and academic talent development via PhD programs in UNIMAS.
