Announcement: UNIMAS AHA Training Site Course Calendar 2018 (2^nd Half)

The UNIMAS American Heart Association (AHA) Training Site is pleased to announce its latest course offerings for the second half of 2018.

UNIMAS is an official training site that offers the following AHA Courses:

• Courses for Healthcare Professionals:
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Course for Healthcare Providers
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Provider Course
  • AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Provider Course
• Courses for Non-Medically Trained Personnel:
  • AHA Heartsaver® First Aid, CPR & AED Provider Course

Enrolled participants will receive the official AHA course package upon registration. Participants who successfully fulfill the assessment (written and skills testing) requirements of the course will be awarded with an AHA provider status which is internationally recognized and valid for 2-years.

All courses will be conducted by AHA certified instructors in the Clinical Simulation Centre, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Kota Samarahan Campus. The training facility is fully equipped with simulators of varying fidelity levels to ensure our participants are fully immersed in the training programmes.

Pada awal bulan ini, Jabatan Patologi telah menerima 10 orang pelajar, berserta dengan seorang pensyarah pengiring daripada Kolej ITA, Sibu untuk menjalankan penempatan Latihan Industri – Workshop on Histological Techniques (Tissue Processing) di Makmal Histopatologi. Kumpulan pelajar tersebut telah menjalankan sesi latihan selama 5 hari bermula 1 hingga 5 Julai 2019.

Objektif penempatan ini adalah untuk memberi pendedahan tentang pemprosesan spesimen tisu manusia mengikut piawaian prosedur yang betul bagi menghasilkan slaid yang berkualiti, seterusnya membantu pakar patologi memberikan diagnosis yang tepat. Para pelajar diperkenalkan dengan beberapa peralatan makmal dan cara peralatan tersebut beroperasi.

Selain itu, para pelajar juga mendapat peluang untuk mencuba sendiri (hands-on) setiap teknik yang perlu dikuasai dalam memproses dan menghasilkan slaid bagi tujuan diagnostik. Program ini amat berguna dan penting kepada para pelajar dalam mendapatkan pengetahuan dan kemahiran yang sewajarnya tentang pengendalian dan pemprosesan spesimen tisu manusia.

Untuk makluman, program ini diadakan secara berterusan sepanjang tahun. Penyertaan ini adalah terbuka dan dialu-alukan kepada pelajar kolej, institusi pengajian tinggi dan pelajar pascasiswazah yang berkeperluan untuk mengaplikasikan kemahiran pengendalian dan pemprosesan spesimen tisu dalam penyelidikan. Objectives

The objectives of the conference are as follows:

1. To promote and disseminate scientific research in the social, biological and medical sciences in Borneo;

2. To enable the research community, public, interested Borneo government departments, and others to keep abreast of ongoing research and its results;

3. To serve as a vehicle for drawing attention to urgent research and its results;

4. To provide a forum for the flow of information on Borneo research arising from many diverse sources;

The Conference will be held on campus at Detar Putra, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, Kota Samarahan, Sarawak, Malaysia.

Session Themes and Panels

This will be a multidisciplinary conference dealing specifically with Borneo, with plenary sessions and sessions devoted to special topics and panels including but not limited to the following fields:
