Announcement: UNIMAS AHA Training Site Course Calendar 2018 (2^nd Half)

The UNIMAS American Heart Association (AHA) Training Site is pleased to announce its latest course offerings for the second half of 2018.

UNIMAS is an official training site that offers the following AHA Courses:

• Courses for Healthcare Professionals:
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Course for Healthcare Providers
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Provider Course
  • AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Provider Course
• Courses for Non-Medically Trained Personnel:
  • AHA Heartsaver® First Aid, CPR & AED Provider Course

Enrolled participants will receive the official AHA course package upon registration. Participants who successfully fulfill the assessment (written and skills testing) requirements of the course will be awarded with an AHA provider status which is internationally recognized and valid for 2-years.

All courses will be conducted by AHA certified instructors in the Clinical Simulation Centre, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Kota Samarahan Campus. The training facility is fully equipped with simulators of varying fidelity levels to ensure our participants are fully immersed in the training programmes.

YBhg Tan Sri/Datuk/Dato'/Datu/Prof/Prof Madya/Dr/Tuan/Puan/Cik,

Pada 11 Julai 2019, pihak Muzium Anatomi dan Patologi telah menerima rombongan pelawat daripada SMK Matang Jaya seramai 66 orang pelajar serta 7 orang guru pengiring.

Objektif lawatan ini adalah bertujuan untuk memberi pendedahan awal dan menyemai minat kepada para pelajar terhadap bidang sains perubatan. Selain daripada itu, pelawat juga memperolehi ilmu kesihatan dan info mengenai penyakit serta mendapat maklumat tentang penjagaan kesihatan.

Lawatan ini telah dikendalikan oleh Juruteknologi Makmal Perubatan iaitu Puan Herlina ak Patrick Kukut dan Puan Azimah Bt Hj Ahmad.

Objectives

The objectives of the conference are as follows:

1. To promote and disseminate scientific research in the social, biological and medical sciences in Borneo;

2. To enable the research community, public, interested Borneo government departments, and others to keep abreast of ongoing research and its results;

3. To serve as a vehicle for drawing attention to urgent research and its results;

4. To provide a forum for the flow of information on Borneo research arising from many diverse sources;

Venue

The Conference will be held on campus at Detar Putra, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, Kota Samarahan, Sarawak, Malaysia.

Session Themes and Panels

This will be a multidisciplinary conference dealing specifically with Borneo, with plenary sessions and sessions devoted to special topics and panels including but not limited to the following fields:

The Department of Civil Engineering had a very interesting session with our Industry Advisory Panel this morning (17 July 2019) at Waterfront Hotel. We expressed our appreciation to Ir Hj Zawawi Hj Eembong (Sarahill Consultant), Ir Kueh Kim Meow (Hatika Consultant), Ir Dr Hii Ching Poon (Adda Consultant) & Ir Chin Hon Sin (JKR Sarawak) for their presence and valuable inputs. It was a session to review our curriculum and comply with contemporary engineering practices.

The academic members had the opportunity to verify and clarify various aspects of their teaching-learning process. The Department strive to maintain a curriculum that is updated and fulfilling the needs of the industry. Potential employers of UNIMAS civil engineering graduates will appreciate the short learning curve and fast training exposures needed by UNIMAS graduates when at work. We prepared our students well and industry-ready all the time.

17_^th July 2019 – A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Senari Synergy and UNIMAS which aims at resolving quality and inconsistent water supply issues arising from low water pressure, ageing piping and uneven distribution in stressed areas of the rural population was signed today and witnessed by Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Patinggi Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, Chief Minister of Sarawak.

The MoU will enable both parties to explore areas involving developing and/or rejuvenating the existing water supply infrastructure in remote areas that are difficult to access. The project will entail the development of a standalone system that will help complement the existing Sarawak State Water Grid Programme.

Jefri said, “Senari Synergy are extremely excited about this collaboration with UNIMAS as this will allow us to assist the State in providing not only clean treated water which is very much needed in the rural areas but more importantly ensuring cost effective and timely delivery of the project through the provision of a standalone system’.
