    Kota Samarahan, 26th September 2018 - The Institute of Social Informatics and Technological Innovations (ISITI) at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) hosted an open day, which ran starting from today until tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

    This two-day event served as a platform to introduce not only the diverse and innovative works of research that the Institute has taken on but also the various university-community engagement projects that have been initiated over the years to members of the public.

    The event, which was officiated by Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Professor Dr Wan Hashim bin Wan Ibrahim, saw an attendance of more than 400 visitors.

    Members of the public were given the opportunity to learn about the rich traditional knowledge of the different indigenous communities in Malaysia, such as Oroo, the traditional language of the Penans in Sarawak, as well as the Semai and Temiar languages of the Orang Asli.

    Apart from that, they had some hands-on experience with mobile technologies and explored how games can be used for STEM subjects. Another unique feature of the two-day event was that participants were also given the chance to experiment problem solving using Theory ...

    Kota Samarahan, 24th September 2018: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), in a simple signing ceremony at Rumah Universiti on Monday, today.

    The MoU document was signed by UNIMAS Vice Chancellor Prof. Datuk Dr. Mohamad Kadim Suaidi and UMS Vice Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Dr. D. Kamarudin D. Mudin.

    The MoU between Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) and Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) marks the latest step, through the efforts of the Centre for ICT Services and the IT Department of UMS, in the development of a Disaster Recovery Centre (DRC) through a reciprocal approach, allowing UNIMAS to have high availability for critical IT services and maintain business continuity; should a disaster happen at the current data centre situated at the UNIMAS Campus in Kota Samarahan.

    In his welcoming speech, Kadim said the collaboration of IT professionals between the two universities will help to elevate the level of expertise among them with emphasis on the Disaster Recovery Centre (DRC). The DRC is a critical requirement for any organisation to guarantee the high availability of IT services.

    KOTA SAMARAHAN, 29 April 2019 – Sebagai usaha menyemarakkan program membaca, Pusat Khidmat Maklumat Akademik telah mengambil inisiatif menganjurkan Program Cinta Ilmu selama dua hari bermula 29 April lepas sebagai menyokong Read@UNIMAS dan menarik minat membaca dan memupuk kecintaan kepada ilmu dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS.

    Objektif program adalah untuk menyemarakkan semangat membaca dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS,memupuk kecintaan kepada ilmu pengetahuan, menggalakkan kempen menderma buku dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS serta meningkatkan kesedaran budaya membaca di kalangan masyarakat.

    Antara aktiviti diadakan seperti gimik perasmian, Jom Baca 10 minit, Read Out Loud  yang dilakukan oleh tiga orang pelajar dari sekolah SK St. Martin, SK Empila dan SK Dato Mohd Musa Samarahan, persembahan nyanyian oleh Adik Sofia Arissa, Read and Write with Emerald, pameran dan jualan buku dan cenderahati, jualan makanan dan minuman (food truck)Yakub

    Istimewanya Program Cinta Ilmu kali ini turut dihadiri oleh  Miss Planet International 2019, Cik Viviana Lin Watson,19, yang telah mewakili Malaysia ke peringkat antarabangsa untuk Miss Planet International pada 1 Mac 2019 di Cambodia dan telah merangkul anugerah 2nd runner up Miss Planet International 2019 bersandarkan minat membaca yang mendalam dan mempunyai pengetahuan am yang luas.
