16-17 April 2018: The UNIMAS Clinical Simulation Centre, which is also an official American Heart Association (AHA) Training Site, organized an AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Provider Course. The 2-day course attracted participants from Kuching, Kapit, Sarikei, Sabah and even Brunei.

The American Heart Association’s (AHA’s) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Provider course builds upon the AHA BLS Course focusing on advanced assessments and managements. This advanced course highlights the importance of high-performance team dynamics and communications, systems of care, recognition and intervention of cardiopulmonary arrest, immediate post cardiac arrest, acute dysrhythmia, stroke and acute coronary syndromes (ACS).

This 2-day instructor-led course is conducted within the Clinical Simulation Centre’s simulation suites using various teaching-learning modalities, which include AHA’s signature video-based practice-while-watching (PWW) and Megacode sessions using sophisticated task trainers and simulators to emulate clinical scenarios.
