    KOTA SAMARAHAN, 29 April 2019 – Sebagai usaha menyemarakkan program membaca, Pusat Khidmat Maklumat Akademik telah mengambil inisiatif menganjurkan Program Cinta Ilmu selama dua hari bermula 29 April lepas sebagai menyokong Read@UNIMAS dan menarik minat membaca dan memupuk kecintaan kepada ilmu dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS.

    Objektif program adalah untuk menyemarakkan semangat membaca dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS,memupuk kecintaan kepada ilmu pengetahuan, menggalakkan kempen menderma buku dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS serta meningkatkan kesedaran budaya membaca di kalangan masyarakat.

    Antara aktiviti diadakan seperti gimik perasmian, Jom Baca 10 minit, Read Out Loud  yang dilakukan oleh tiga orang pelajar dari sekolah SK St. Martin, SK Empila dan SK Dato Mohd Musa Samarahan, persembahan nyanyian oleh Adik Sofia Arissa, Read and Write with Emerald, pameran dan jualan buku dan cenderahati, jualan makanan dan minuman (food truck)Yakub

    Istimewanya Program Cinta Ilmu kali ini turut dihadiri oleh  Miss Planet International 2019, Cik Viviana Lin Watson,19, yang telah mewakili Malaysia ke peringkat antarabangsa untuk Miss Planet International pada 1 Mac 2019 di Cambodia dan telah merangkul anugerah 2nd runner up Miss Planet International 2019 bersandarkan minat membaca yang mendalam dan mempunyai pengetahuan am yang luas.

    KOTA SAMARAHAN, 28 February 2018 : Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) bagged two gold medals, one silver and eight bronze at the Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) 2018, held in Kuala Lumpur, from 22 – 24 February 2018. This event was organised by Professional Trade Exhibition and Meeting Planners (protemp) and Malaysian Association of Research Scientists (MARS). Apart from the excellent achievements of medals, UNIMAS also won the 3rd place for Best Booth Design award.

    MTE2018 attracted more than 500 inventions from leading inventors and innovators, academics, research institutions, young entrepreneurs and the industry, who share a common principle that invention is the vital source that drives the world's technology and new orders of wealth creation. Moreover, the MTE2018 comprises of international participations from countries such as Croatia, Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia, Iran etc.

    This outstanding achievement has given UNIMAS researchers more encouragement and motivation to persevere and be diligent in their research endeavours. With the excellent haul of 11 medals, UNIMAS is confident that these inventions would lead towards commercialisation that ultimately propel UNIMAS towards the attaining excellence in the research and innovation ecosystem.

    KOTA SAMARAHAN, 28 February 2018 : The closing ceremony of the EduTour Programme for Utsunomiya University, Japan, was held recently at the Experimental Theatre, Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts UNIMAS.  This programme was organized by the Faculty of Language and Communication (FLC) as a final farewell and celebration of Utsunomiya University (UU) students’ achievement during their two-week programme. During this event, 20 UU undergraduates who participated in the programme received certificates marking their successful completion of the EduTour Programme which started on 8 February 2018.  The certificates were presented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and International) Professor Dr. Wan Hashim Wan Ibrahim.

    UU chose to collaborate with UNIMAS in carrying out their Challenge, Change, and Contribution programme. Thus, the EduTour Programme was specially designed by FLC to meet the requirements of UU. The two-week programme aimed to provide unique and meaningful opportunities for the UU students to experience the culture of Sarawak, UNIMAS campus, and improve students’ English language skills.  The 20 Japanese participants came from UU’s Faculty of Agriculture, International Studies, Regional Design, and Education. They were accompanied by their instructors- Associate Professor Dr Akiko Iizuka, Dr Takashi Izuha, and Ms Yukie Yamamoto.

    Kota Samarahan,  30 August 2018: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Universiti Malaysia Sarawak and Estream Software Sdn. Bhd, Malaysia with the aim of establishing a basis upon which UNIMAS and Estream may explore areas for cooperation and collaboration such as research, staff engagement, industrial study visits and student industrial placement.

    This event was officiated by Ybhg Professor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi as Vice-Chancellor, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak and Mr Desmond Law Hoe Yan, Managing Director of Estream Software Sdn. Bhd, Malaysia.

    This event was witnessed by Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Associate Professor Michael Tinggi and Ms Ong Bee Wei, the Education Advisor of Estream Software Sdn. Bhd., as well as Unimas staff and other invited guests.

    The Memorandum of Understanding is in line with UNIMAS's vision of being an exemplary university through the pursuit of excellence in teaching, research and scholarship.
