    KOTA SAMARAHAN, 29 April 2019 – Sebagai usaha menyemarakkan program membaca, Pusat Khidmat Maklumat Akademik telah mengambil inisiatif menganjurkan Program Cinta Ilmu selama dua hari bermula 29 April lepas sebagai menyokong Read@UNIMAS dan menarik minat membaca dan memupuk kecintaan kepada ilmu dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS.

    Objektif program adalah untuk menyemarakkan semangat membaca dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS,memupuk kecintaan kepada ilmu pengetahuan, menggalakkan kempen menderma buku dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS serta meningkatkan kesedaran budaya membaca di kalangan masyarakat.

    Antara aktiviti diadakan seperti gimik perasmian, Jom Baca 10 minit, Read Out Loud  yang dilakukan oleh tiga orang pelajar dari sekolah SK St. Martin, SK Empila dan SK Dato Mohd Musa Samarahan, persembahan nyanyian oleh Adik Sofia Arissa, Read and Write with Emerald, pameran dan jualan buku dan cenderahati, jualan makanan dan minuman (food truck)Yakub

    Istimewanya Program Cinta Ilmu kali ini turut dihadiri oleh  Miss Planet International 2019, Cik Viviana Lin Watson,19, yang telah mewakili Malaysia ke peringkat antarabangsa untuk Miss Planet International pada 1 Mac 2019 di Cambodia dan telah merangkul anugerah 2nd runner up Miss Planet International 2019 bersandarkan minat membaca yang mendalam dan mempunyai pengetahuan am yang luas.

    Sadong Jaya, 07 October 2018; Universiti Malaysia Sarawak yesterday presented Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathemathics (STEM) learning tools and computers worth RM30,000.00 to SK Hj Kelali, Semera, Sadong Jaya. This is also part of how UNIMAS tackled the goals of achieving a target of 60:40 ratio of science to arts stream in Malaysian schools.
    YBhg Prof Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi, the Vice Chancellor of UNIMAS  handed the equipment comprising seven STEM learning tools and five computers to SK Hj Kelali which were received by its Senior Assistant 1, Cikgu Hamali Lazim on behalf of the school.The STEM programme is an initative by UNIMAS under its ‘Jalinan Komuniti STEM UNIMAS’ to spur interest in STEM among students. Apart from that year 1 and year 6 students who presents were given UNIMAS School bag to give them a sense of wanting to further their studies in a higher learning institution.

    SHELL Malaysia collaborated with the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation in the recent #mydigitalmaker Fair 2018 to showcase its science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) initiatives.

    These included the grand finale of the #ShellSelamatSampai Varsity Challenge (#SSS Varsity Challenge).

     

    Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd managing director Shairan Huzani Husain said in today’s world, science and engineering are critical to economic and social progress.

    “Shell’s STEM support seeks not only to inspire more young people to pursue careers in science and engineering, but to equip them with the skills that will prepare them for the jobs of tomorrow.

    “Increasing digitalisation and automation are changing the nature and mix of skills that young people will need to remain relevant today and in the future,” he said.

     

    The #SSS Varsity Challenge is an inter-varsity road safety innovation competition, which kick started in 2017.

     

    The theme for #SSS Varsity Challenge 2018 is “Goal Zero” and the key objective is to empower young adults to embark on road safety innovation projects that would contribute towards achieving zero road related accidents among youth and motorcyclists.
