    Kota Samarahan , 30 August 2017 : The NZ High Commissioner to Malaysia, His Excellency Dr John Subritzky, paid a courtesy visit to Universiti Malaysia Sarawak’s (UNIMAS) Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and International), Professor Dr Wan Hashim Wan Ibrahim on Wednesday 30th August.

    Later, His Excellency Dr Subritzky gave a talk entitled ‘Malaysia and New Zealand: 60 years of diplomatic relations’ at the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS), UNIMAS.

    The talk enlightens the audience on the dynamics of Malaysia-New Zealand’s relationship over the last six decades. Dr Subritzky stated that, in terms of education, the relationship between Malaysia and NZ has started way back in the 1950s with the Colombo Plan, which saw a high number of students from Malaysia going and studying at various universities in NZ.

    This relationship has continued for decades and expanded to encompass other sectoral partnerships such as trade and tourism.

    The talk is part of the FSS Talk Series that invites scholars, policy makers and leaders to share their thoughts on strategic issues and their impacts on policy making and on regional and international development.

    Kota Samarahan, 5 September 2017: Delegasi UNIMAS yang diketuai oleh Timbalan Naib Canselor (Penyelidikan dan Inovasi), Profesor Dr Kopli Bujang telah melakukan kunjungan ke atas Menteri Pendidikan, Sains dan Penyelidikan Teknologi Sarawak, Dato’ Sri Michael Manyin anak Jawong di pejabat beliau, pagi tadi.

    Tujuan kunjungan tersebut adalah untuk memaklumkan Dato’ Sri Michael Manyin berhubung penganjuran Persidangan Antarabangsa Penerbitan Buku Borneo yang akan diadakan pada 11 hingga 13 Oktober depan.

    Seiring dengan penganjuran persidangan berkenaan, diadakan juga Pesta Buku selama lima hari bermula 11 Oktober di Plaza Merdeka Kuching yang turut menyediakan pelbagai aktiviti menarik melibatkan komuniti setempat dan pelajar sekolah.

    Dalam pertemuan ringkas hampir satu jam itu, delegasi UNIMAS yang melibatkan Jawatankuasa Persidangan Antarabangsa Penerbitan Buku Borneo turut menjemput Dato’ Sri Michael Manyin hadir pada persidangan itu kelak.

    Turut menyertai kunjungan tersebut ialah Pengarah UNIMAS Publisher, Profesor Madya Dr Jane Labadin, Ahli Jawatankuasa Teknikal merangkap Pensyarah Fakulti Bahasa dan Pengajian Komunikasi UNIMAS, Profesor Madya Dr Jeniri Amir dan Pensyarah Fakulti Sains Sosial, Profesor Madya Dr Ahi anak Sarok.

    KOTA SAMARAHAN, 29 April 2019 – Sebagai usaha menyemarakkan program membaca, Pusat Khidmat Maklumat Akademik telah mengambil inisiatif menganjurkan Program Cinta Ilmu selama dua hari bermula 29 April lepas sebagai menyokong Read@UNIMAS dan menarik minat membaca dan memupuk kecintaan kepada ilmu dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS.

    Objektif program adalah untuk menyemarakkan semangat membaca dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS,memupuk kecintaan kepada ilmu pengetahuan, menggalakkan kempen menderma buku dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS serta meningkatkan kesedaran budaya membaca di kalangan masyarakat.

    Antara aktiviti diadakan seperti gimik perasmian, Jom Baca 10 minit, Read Out Loud  yang dilakukan oleh tiga orang pelajar dari sekolah SK St. Martin, SK Empila dan SK Dato Mohd Musa Samarahan, persembahan nyanyian oleh Adik Sofia Arissa, Read and Write with Emerald, pameran dan jualan buku dan cenderahati, jualan makanan dan minuman (food truck)Yakub

    Istimewanya Program Cinta Ilmu kali ini turut dihadiri oleh  Miss Planet International 2019, Cik Viviana Lin Watson,19, yang telah mewakili Malaysia ke peringkat antarabangsa untuk Miss Planet International pada 1 Mac 2019 di Cambodia dan telah merangkul anugerah 2nd runner up Miss Planet International 2019 bersandarkan minat membaca yang mendalam dan mempunyai pengetahuan am yang luas.

    Kota Samarahan, 5th September 2017 : Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) and Geo Crete Specialist have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today.

    The collaboration specifically aimed to explore studies pertaining to construction on peat soils in Sarawak.

    Other areas of collaborations were to promote industrial postgraduate program, joint supervision of industrial postgraduate students, joint organization of consultancy and seminar, research grant application and several other activities to strengthen research, teaching and learning.

    The signatories from Geo Crete Specialist were Dato' Sri Haji Abdul Aziz Hassan, Executive Chairman and Mr. Zoran Djumic, Chief Executive Officer.

    UNIMAS was represented by Prof Dato Dr Mohamad Kadim Hj Suaidi, Vice Chancellor of UNIMAS and Prof Ir Dr Al-Khalid Othman, Dean, Faculty of Engineering.

    Kota Samarahan,  30 August 2018: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Universiti Malaysia Sarawak and Estream Software Sdn. Bhd, Malaysia with the aim of establishing a basis upon which UNIMAS and Estream may explore areas for cooperation and collaboration such as research, staff engagement, industrial study visits and student industrial placement.

    This event was officiated by Ybhg Professor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi as Vice-Chancellor, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak and Mr Desmond Law Hoe Yan, Managing Director of Estream Software Sdn. Bhd, Malaysia.

    This event was witnessed by Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Associate Professor Michael Tinggi and Ms Ong Bee Wei, the Education Advisor of Estream Software Sdn. Bhd., as well as Unimas staff and other invited guests.

    The Memorandum of Understanding is in line with UNIMAS's vision of being an exemplary university through the pursuit of excellence in teaching, research and scholarship.
