    UCTC UNIMAS dengan kerjasama FAMA telah menganjurkan Majlis Perasmian Projek MyKampungMyFuture (MKMF) di Bukit Jagoi, Bau pada 25 November 2017 (Sabtu).

    Majlis ini dilaksanakan sejajar dengan tamatnya projek Ecotourism Jagoi setahun penglibatan UCTC UNIMAS dan agensi-agensi lain yang menyediakan komuniti Bung Jagoi sebagai sebuah destinasi pelancongan, menerusi program jangka pendek berimpak besar MyKampungMyFuture (MKMF) Jagoi di bawah geran tajaan Kementerian Pertanian dan Industri Asas Tani Malaysia.

    Turut hadir ke majlis tersebut ialah Yang Berhormat Dato’ Anthony Nogeh ak Gumbek, Ahli Parlimen P192 Mas Gading, Timbalan Menteri Kementerian Pertanian dan Industri Asas Tani dan Yang Berhormat Dato’ Henry Harry Jinep, Ahli DUN N2 Tasik Biru.

    A group of 12 participants of the UNIMAS International Summer Programme 2017 visited ISITI as part of their programme. The participants were introduced to the various research initiatives spearheaded by ISITI and were also given a detailed explanation on the impacts that the research conducted by the institute had on the communities involved. The participants were also asked to provide their own insight on the issues of sustainability of developmental projects for rural communities as well as to share their experiences and thoughts on any research projects that they had either participated in or were keen to pursue in the future.

    ISITI participated in the flag-off of the UNIMAS-PALAPES team to Long Lamai as not only was this the first time that PALAPES was involved in an ISITI-related activity, but also this was a unique collaboration between UNIMAS and PALAPES in conducting a community project. The UNIMAS-PALAPES team sent construction material and completed the construction of the NBOS project via the UCTC, MoHE to improve the water supply and sanitation system for the Penan community in Long Lamai. The project components consisted of a rainwater harvesting system, biochar reactor and dry composting toilet in effort to enable the sustainable development of Long Lamai in the long term.

    ISITI recently launched the first book commemorating the ‘eBorneo Knowledge Fair’ during the opening ceremony of the UNIMAS Silver Jubilee Conference 2017. The book was officially launched by the Malaysian Minister of Higher Education, YB Dato’ Seri Idris bin Jusoh. The ‘eBorneo Knowledge Fair’ book captures the experiences that ISITI has had with the highland communities in Sarawak with regards to the usage of ICTs in ways that are relevant to them, the many milestones that ISITI has achieved over the years of working closely with these communities as well as the journey ahead for ISITI together with these communities.

    The Cheme-Sea programme with “Time Treasure” themed was organised by the 3rd year students from the Chemical Engineering and Energy Sustainability Department. This programme, which took place at the lobby of Department of Chemical Engineering and Energy Sustainability building, witnessed the participation of all chemical engineering students from 1st to 4th year of study. The programme was supervised by Miss Siti Hazirah Adam, a lecturer from Chemical Engineering and Energy Sustainability Department, and officiated by Dr Nazeri Abdul Rahman, Deputy Dean for Student Affairs and Alumni, Faculty of Engineering. The aim of this programme was to provide a venue for UNIMAS chemical engineering students to get to know each other better while strengthening the ties between the students from all years of study with their lecturers.

    Program Cheme-Sea merupakan suatu program yang dianjurkan oleh para pelajar tahun tiga Program Kejuruteraan Kimia dan Sustainabiliti Tenaga. Program yang bertemakan “Time Treasure” ini telah disertai oleh pelajar-pelajar tahun satu hingga tahun empat Jabatan Kejuruteraan Kimia dan Sustainabiliti Tenaga. Program ini bertempat di pekarangan bangunan Jabatan Kejuruteraan Kimia dan Sustanabiliti Tenaga serta dipantau oleh Cik Siti Hazirah Adam, salah seorang pensyarah dari Jabatan Kejuruteraan Kimia dan Sustainabiliti Tenaga, ...

    PERODUA Eco Challenge (PEC) 2017 is a CSR competition organizesd by Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn. Bhd. (Perodua) since 2009. Before this, this competition is all about eco-races. But this year, the challenge format has been change. For PEC 2017, competition teams are required to produce a car part that fulfills the element of ECO – Environment, Creativity and Originality. The idea must also incorporate a ‘Unique Malaysia’ element in the design.

          A total of 21 institution were invited to participate in PEC 2017 in November 2016 and from these institutions, 10 finalist have been choose based on the submitted ideas. As one of the finalist, 20 student from Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering and Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department have been chosen to represent UNIMAS. For PEC 2017, UNIMAS is the sole university from Borneo to be chosen among competing institution as one of PEC 2017’s finalist. UNIMAS also managed to get 2nd runner-up in Sketching Design Competition held in June 2017.

       Since the earlier development of this project, UNIMAS team have been working closely with PERODUA’s R&D team, vendor and was guided by En. Wan Muhammad Bin Wan Ibrahim as UNIMAS team mentor. ...

    On the 30th of November 2017, Dr. Yanuar Z. Arief and his students organized a study visit to Sejingkat Power Corporation (SPC) Sdn Bhd at Kampung Goebilt, Off Jalan Bako, Kuching as part of teaching activities in Electrical Engineering Technology (KNR2443) subject. There were 29 students participated in this event. The visit helped the students to understand in detail regarding a coal power plant operation, maintenance, and safety requirement. Through this visit the students also fell an industrial working experience which is useful for their professional career in the future.
