    KOTA SAMARAHAN, 29 April 2019 – Sebagai usaha menyemarakkan program membaca, Pusat Khidmat Maklumat Akademik telah mengambil inisiatif menganjurkan Program Cinta Ilmu selama dua hari bermula 29 April lepas sebagai menyokong Read@UNIMAS dan menarik minat membaca dan memupuk kecintaan kepada ilmu dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS.

    Objektif program adalah untuk menyemarakkan semangat membaca dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS,memupuk kecintaan kepada ilmu pengetahuan, menggalakkan kempen menderma buku dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS serta meningkatkan kesedaran budaya membaca di kalangan masyarakat.

    Antara aktiviti diadakan seperti gimik perasmian, Jom Baca 10 minit, Read Out Loud  yang dilakukan oleh tiga orang pelajar dari sekolah SK St. Martin, SK Empila dan SK Dato Mohd Musa Samarahan, persembahan nyanyian oleh Adik Sofia Arissa, Read and Write with Emerald, pameran dan jualan buku dan cenderahati, jualan makanan dan minuman (food truck)Yakub

    Istimewanya Program Cinta Ilmu kali ini turut dihadiri oleh  Miss Planet International 2019, Cik Viviana Lin Watson,19, yang telah mewakili Malaysia ke peringkat antarabangsa untuk Miss Planet International pada 1 Mac 2019 di Cambodia dan telah merangkul anugerah 2nd runner up Miss Planet International 2019 bersandarkan minat membaca yang mendalam dan mempunyai pengetahuan am yang luas.

    KUCHING: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) may become the first higher education institution in the country to fully apply the integrated cumulative grade point average (iCGPA) assessment in all its faculties.

    Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh said unlike Unimas, there were other public universities that adopted iCGPA at selected faculties since the assessment system was introduced about two years ago.

    “I am not so sure with other (public) universities but I am proud of the achievement made by Unimas in fully implementing the iCGPA on all of its students.

    “However, I can assure Unimas will produce graduates with holistic and balance skills in academic, communications and entrepreneurship in the next four years following the full implementation of iCGPA.

    “If UNIMAS is the first university in the country that has fully implemented iCGPA, it means that the university is the first higher education institution to have embraced such assessment system.

    KUCHING 18 Okt. - Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) menjadi universiti pertama memperkenalkan pengenalan digital di negara.

    Menteri Pendidikan Tinggi, Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh berkata, pengenalan digital tersebut menggunakan kod QR mengambil masa sebulan untuk pihak universiti menyediakannya.

    “Melalui penggunaan pengenalan digital ini, pelajar Unimas tidak perlu lagi membawa kad pengenalan pelajar.

    “Mereka boleh menggunakan kod QR dimiliki dalam telefon pintar masing-masing bagi soal pentadbiran, akses kemudahan universiti seperti perpustakaan malah membeli barangan dan bermacam-macam lagi,” katanya.

    Beliau berkata demikian ketika sidang akhbar selepas merasmikan Persidangan Jubli Perak Unimas 2017 di sini hari ini.

    Yang turut hadir, Ketua Pengarah Pendidikan Tinggi, Datin Paduka Ir. Dr. Siti Hamisah Tapsir; Naib Canselor UNIMAS, Prof. Datuk Dr. Mohamad Kadim Suaidi dan Pengerusi Lembaga Pengarah, Datuk Dr. Hatta Solhi.

    Tambahnya, pada bulan hadapan, pengenalan digital itu juga akan diperkenalkan Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UNIMAP) manakala Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) pada Disember nanti. - UTUSAN ONLINE

    KUCHING: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) has become the first university in the country to use Quick Response (QR) Code for identification purposes on campus.

    Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh said he was most attracted by the usage of the QR Code in Unimas, which went to show the high level of capability and innovativeness of the public university.

    “I was made to understand Unimas only took one month to implement digital student identification using QR Code. This is something that we are proud of and we want to see more universities use this digital student identification.

    “I was promised by Universiti Malaysia Perlis (Unimap) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) to deliver (this) in November and December respectively, but to my surprise, Unimas came with it in October,” he said during a press conference after declaring open the two-day Unimas Silver Jubilee Conference 2017 at Pullman Kuching yesterday.

    Idris said with this QR Code, university students do not have to carry their student identification card anymore as their “smart phone will take care of your identification in the university”.

    Kota Samarahan,  30 August 2018: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Universiti Malaysia Sarawak and Estream Software Sdn. Bhd, Malaysia with the aim of establishing a basis upon which UNIMAS and Estream may explore areas for cooperation and collaboration such as research, staff engagement, industrial study visits and student industrial placement.

    This event was officiated by Ybhg Professor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi as Vice-Chancellor, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak and Mr Desmond Law Hoe Yan, Managing Director of Estream Software Sdn. Bhd, Malaysia.

    This event was witnessed by Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Associate Professor Michael Tinggi and Ms Ong Bee Wei, the Education Advisor of Estream Software Sdn. Bhd., as well as Unimas staff and other invited guests.

    The Memorandum of Understanding is in line with UNIMAS's vision of being an exemplary university through the pursuit of excellence in teaching, research and scholarship.
