Kota Samarahan, 30th April 2019: Professor Dr Haji Rusli bin Haji Ahmad has delivered an inaugural lecture on the topic ‘Performance Appraisal: The Past, Present and the Way Forward’ at PITAS UNIMAS, today

His lecture offers an encompassing view of the role of performance appraisal in organizations highlighting the history, current practices and future trends of performance appraisal as a means of to enhance employee potential for both administrative and developmental purposes.

The inaugural lecture draws on Professor Dr Haji Rusli Ahmad’s extensive experience in teaching, researching and consulting in the area of performance appraisal. Professor Dr Haji Rusli Ahmad is currently teaching and supervising both undergraduates and postgraduates in the Human Resource Development (HRD) Program, Faculty of Cognitive Sciences and Human Development, UNIMAS where he has been since 1998.

His passion in education is reflected throughout his illustrious career; starting as a trained teacher in SMK Balai Ringin till today, a senior lecturer in UNIMAS. His research interests span across performance management and HRD practices. Professor Dr Haji Rusli Ahmad has written 18 books and published over 100papers; winning several outstanding awards for his writing, local and international. He is also actively involved in numerous community projects to develop local youths and students.

Inaugural lectures in UNIMAS is a platform to promote and celebrate the academics. It contributes to the role of UNIMAS within the wider community by providing a public forum to present intellectual discourse and discoveries at the University. Professor Dr Haji Rusli Ahmad’s lecture was witnessed by YBhg Dato’ Haji Mansor bin Man,Sarawak Federal Secretary.Among the esteemed guests were Professor Dr Fasihuddin bin Badruddin Ahmad, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic & International), UNIMAS representing Vice Chacellor UNIMAS, Dr Les Met, representing the Director of the Sarawak State Education Department, representatives of top management from both the public and private sectors in Kuching and Samarahan, school heads and representatives from nearby primary and secondary schools, strategic partners and UNIMAS staff.
