KOTA SAMARAHAN, 9 April 2019 - JobStreet.com recently conducted a survey to identify the top 10 most favourable companies in Sarawak. The Top 10 Companies 2019 survey gathered over 1125 Sarawakians jobseekers to participate in the online survey.

The survey’s results showed that oil and gas companies remain the most highly sought-after industry by Sarawakians jobseekers who have registered with JobStreet.com, securing the two top spots in the ranking. PETRONAS, Malaysia’s state oil firm secured the top spot, followed by Anglo-Dutch multinational, Shell.

Sarawak based company, Sarawak Energy appeared to be the third choice, while Cahaya Mata Sarawak and Air Asia occupied the fourth and fifth places respectively. Maybank, Naim Holdings Berhad, Shin Yang Group of Companies, Petros and Sime Darby were among the companies within the top 10 list.

The survey highlighted that Sarawakians employees prioritise career development after company reputation. Salary remained one of the top 3 aspirations and considerations for Sarawakian employees across all position levels.

As demonstrated in the Jobstreet Job Outlook Report 2019, in this new digital economy there is a high demand for digital skills but a limited supply of talent in the market who possess these skills. As such, employers will need to compete more intensely for the talent they need. Talents need to ensure they are equipped with the right skills for these job roles.

“As reflected in the Top 10 Companies 2019 survey, the area of employee development presents a great opportunity both for hirers and talent,” said Gan Bock Herm, Country Manager of JobStreet.com Malaysia. “In fact, five out of the top 10 companies which Sarawakians jobseekers aspire to work for are indeed Sarawakian companies. This is proof of the ability of local companies to compete with foreign multinational corporations to attract and retain talent.”

Senior Director of Centre for Student Development UNIMAS, Professor Dr Siti Raudzah Ghazali congratulates all the winning companies of “Top 10 Preferred Companies in Sarawak” Award and she is confident that UNIMAS will continue to produce quality graduates to meet the growing employment requirements needed by top companies.

The “Top 10 Preferred Companies in Sarawak” awards were presented by Professor Dr Siti Raudzah Ghazali in conjunction with the Human Resources Networking Event (HRNE) organised by JobStreet in collaboration with UNIMAS Sarawak.

Both JobStreet and UNIMAS supported by the Sarawak Government have also collaborated to launch a dedicated website for Sarawakian jobseekers to apply for jobs in Sarawak. The website is as an initiative to bring home talents from overseas and other states in Malaysia.

Gan and Professor Dr Siti Raudzah Ghazali jointly officiated the opening event of HRNE. The Sarawak dedicated job sites are accessible at www.jobstreet.com/my/sarawakjobs.
