The Young Maker Challenge is a program to heighten STEAM awareness and interest among under privileged children. The program is opened to B40 secondary school students from Johor, Perlis, Kedah, Pulau Pinang, Kelantan, Sabah, and Sarawak. The teams will be using ICT and technology to solve problems in the area of food, agriculture, retailer, healthcare, automotive and mobility. For each of the state level, 5 schools are selected for the bootcamp program where the teams are given training on selected technology and skills. Top two schools from each state will be then selected for the national level competition. The main organizer for the program is UTM in partnership with the U.S Embassy Kuala Lumpur, and FCSIT/UNIMAS has been chosen as the hosting partner for the Sarawak Bootcamp program. The bootcamp involving 5 schools from Kuching and Kota Samarahan will undergo a 5 days training at Makerspace/FCSIT from 25th to 29th March 2019. The organizing team from FCSIT is led by AP Dr Kartinah Zen, lecturers and students from FCSIT.
