SIGNING CEREMONY OF MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MoU) BETWEEN UNIVERSITI MALAYSIA SARAWAK AND DEPARTMENT OF STATISTICS MALAYSIA (DOSM)
Kota Samarahan, 22 Februari 2019: A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Universiti Malaysia Sarawak and Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) with the aim of establishing a basis upon which UNIMAS and Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) may explore areas for cooperation and collaboration such as research, academic and staff engagement. This event was officiated by Ybhg Professor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi as Vice-Chancellor, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak and Ybhg Dato’ Sri Dr. Mohd Uzir Mahidin, Chief Statistician, Department of Statistic, Malaysia. This event was witnessed by Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Associate Professor Michael Tinggi and Yang Berbahagia Mdm Roslawati binti Yahya, Director, Department of Statistic Malaysia – State of Sarawak, as well as Unimas staff and other invited guests. The Memorandum of Understanding is in line with UNIMAS's vision of being an exemplary university through the pursuit of excellence in teaching, research and scholarship. The goals of the MOU are to initiate joint projects involving collaborative research and to share expertise and joint development of research, strengthen existing working relationships towards developing and maintaining statistical data for the benefit of national development, create smart partnerships in matters that bring intellectual benefits to the Parties in the field of higher education, particularly in the area of research and sharing of statistical science, developing and evaluating the course curriculum at the Malaysian Statistical Training Institute (ILSM) and the curriculum of any relevant faculty at UNIMAS and venturing into other cooperation related to research and knowledge sharing in the field of statistics, supply, storage and exchange of information and the enhancement of official information to the extent permitted by law to be mutually agreed by the Parties from time to time.
