10 April 2018: The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, through its Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) Committee in collaboration with Unit Latihan, Bahagian Pembangunan Modal Insan (BPMI) conducted its second of six training sessions on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) use for the staff of UNIMAS.
The PAD training series aims to raise awareness and equip the personnel of UNIMAS with the essential skills of identifying sudden cardiac arrests (SCAs), activating the medical emergency response plan, performing essential lifesaving CPR and use of AEDs.
Realizing the need for public response to increase survivability of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests, the UNIMAS PAD Programme has equipped UNIMAS with a total of 25 AED units placed at strategic locations across its campus.
The UNIMAS PAD Programme will roll out a host of strategies for the year to enhance the proficiency and response readiness of its personnel with regards to public access defibrillation.
