2nd to 3rd April 2018: As heart attacks and other cardiac related diseases remains the number one cause of death outside hospitals, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) incorporating the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) has been shown to be an essential link from the site when a victim heart stops beating (known as cardiac arrest) to the point of care by healthcare professionals and ambulance teams.
UiTM Sarawak, Kota Samarahan Campus has always emphasized its member’s competency in this essential lifesaving knowledge and skill. The Clinical Simulation Centre, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) has been receiving participants from UiTM Sarawak over the past years for regular training and re-training in our American Heart Association (AHA) programmes.
Our AHA Heartsaver® First Aid CPR and AED Course which is aimed at non-medically trained personnel, provides course participants with the essential knowledge and skills to identify sudden cardiac arrests, initiate CPR and use an AED. The 2-day course also covers first aid management for common medical, injury and environmental related emergencies.
