UNIMAS WON SECOND PLACE IN MALAYSIAN CANOE CONCRETE COMPETITION 2017

UNIMAS team won a second place with RM10,000 cash prize and a trophy in the Malaysian Concrete Canoe Competition (MCCC) 2017 which was held at the Tasik Varsiti Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 25th to 26th November 2017. UNIMAS team also won the Special Award for Best Design Poster. The event was organized by American Concrete Institute – Malaysia Chapter, Malaysian Concrete Society and Universiti Malaya. The competition was judged based on design report, product presentation, oral presentation and canoe race. Amongst local universities participated were Universiti Malaya, Universiti Teknologi MARA Shah Alam, Universiti Selangor, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Universiti Putra Malaysia and University College Technology Sarawak.
One of the main objectives of the MCCC 2017 is to provide civil engineering students hands-on and practical experience by working with innovative in concrete mix designs as well as exerting their leadership skill in project management.


UNIMAS team was represented by undergraduate students from Civil Engineering Program namely Leong Geok Teng, Liow Ching Vern, Bong Yi Jie, Nurrizzuwanni bt Hairuddin, Dyg Nur Aina Syafiqa bt Awang Japar, Chia Chuong Yan, Moreen anak Inson, Eme Lina anak Iran@Eran, Vong Pik Quan and Law Hui Soon. The team was supervised by Prof Dr Md. Abdul Mannan, Associate Professor Dr Mohammad Ibrahim Safawai Mohd Zain and Prof Dr Ng Chee Khoon from the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, UNIMAS.
