KOTA SAMARAHAN, 27th October 2017 – Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) hosted the CEO@Faculty Programme by inviting YBhg Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar, Group Chairman of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) to give a talk on Leadership Transformation and Challenges in the Digital Economy at Arena Gemilang, DeTAR PUTRA UNIMAS, this morning. The talk was spearheaded by Faculty of Economic and Business UNIMAS and cooperated with PNB.
The session lasted for two hours and ended by launching of Digital Economy Awareness 2017 Program CEO@Faculty. It was attended by more than 1000 students and officers. Also present Vice Chancellor of UNIMAS, YBhg Prof Dr Datuk Mohamad Kadim who also gave his opening speech before handing the session to YBhg Tan Sri Abdul Wahid.
Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar was appointed as Group Chairman of PNB on 1st August 2016 following completion of his term as a Senator and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department in charge of Economic Planning. Prior to his cabinet appointment, he was President and CEO of Maybank from 2008 to 2013. He was formerly Group CEO of Telekom Malaysia Berhad from 2004 to 2008 (prior to the demerger of Axiata). He has also served as Managing Director/CEO of UEM Group Berhad and Executive Vice Chairman of PLUS Expressways Berhad. Tan Sri Wahid is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK) and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW) and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).
