UNIMAS Secured 3 Golds At Mte2017

Kota Samarahan, 28 February 2017: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) attained 3 gold medals, 3 silver and 9 bronze at the Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) 2017, held in Kuala Lumpur, from 16 – 18 February 2017.

This event was organised by Professional Trade Exhibition and Meeting Planners (PROTEMP Group) and Malaysian Association of Research Scientists (MARS). 

MTE2017 attracted inventions from leading inventors and innovators, academics, research institutions and young entrepreneurs who share a common principle that invention is the vital source that drives the world's technology and new orders of wealth creation.

This outstanding achievement has given UNIMAS researchers more encouragement and motivation to persevere and be diligent in the research and innovation ecosystem.

With an excellent haul of 15 medals, UNIMAS is confident that these inventions would lead towards commercialisation that ultimately propel UNIMAS towards the upper echelon of the Malaysian education system.

At the MTE2017, UNIMAS showcased 18 inventions which were as follows:

GOLD MEDAL: 

  1. “A New Fingerprint Matching Method For Security Verification And Identification” led by Ir Dr David Bong Boon Liang.
  2. “Graphics, Audio-Visuals And Interaction (GAI) Based Handheld Augmented Reality (AR) Museum Guide”  led by Dr Edmund Ng Giap Weng
  3.  “Counselling Research & Innovation SCS-ESP: Self Value Excellence Programme Module” led by Dr Amalia Madihie

SILVER MEDAL: 

  1. “Stabilized Peat Using Lightweight Material As Reinforcement Layer For Sub-Grade” led by Dr Norazzlina M.Sa’don.
  2. Sago Frond For Production Of Lactic Acid and Prebiotic Media” led by Prof Dr Kopli Bujang
  3.  “Automated Heuristic-Based Examination Scheduler” led by Dr Sze San Nah.

BRONZE MEDAL: 

  1. “Game-Based Mobile Guide: Connecting Digital And Physical Environment At Sarawak Cultural Village” led by Pn Shaziti Aman.

MERIT AWARD:
