    His Excellency Victor Samuel Ngele

    7 April 2016 - The High Commissioner of Solomon Highlands, His Excellency Victor Samuel Ngele paid a courtesy visit to UNIMAS today. The visit is the first by Solomon Islands to UNIMAS, and it is intended to establish a relationship with the university, particularly for undergraduate studies opportunities and other relevant academic collaborations.

    Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni) Prof Mohd Fadzil Abdul Rahman welcomed His Excellency Victor Samuel Ngele and chaired the discussion. During the session, His Excellency exchanged a lot of ideas with Faculty Deans and other representatives. His Excellency Victor Samuel Ngele was also given a campus tour by the UNIMAS International team led by Assoc Prof Dr Souba Rethinasamy

    UNIMAS looks forward to receiving students from Solomon Islands and to work together on mutually beneficial collaborations in the near future.

    KOTA SAMARAHAN, 11 April 2016 : The Faculty of Resource Science and Technology (FSTS), UNIMAS today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with My Innovation Hub (MyInnoHub) for a greater collaboration in Sago research. The memorandum was signed by Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni), Prof Mohd Fadzil Abdul Rahman on behalf of UNIMAS and Chief Executive Officer of MyInnoHub, Vincent Wong Wai Sang from MyInnoHub. It was also witnessed by the Dean of Faculty of Resource Science and Technology, Assoc. Prof Dr Othman Bojo and Chief Executive Officer of Regal International Group, Dato’ Dominic Su.

     

    In his welcoming speech, Professor Mohd Fadzil highlighted the strong interest in Sago research which have been pursued by UNIMAS researchers at the Faculty of Resource Science and Technology, and that he was pleased that MyInnoHub was keen to collaborate with the university, based on an initial presentation conducted by the team on the 29th of February 2016.

     

    The MoU with MyInnoHub focuses on two UNIMAS research products; first is the research on Sago from upstream plantation, harvesting and processing till downstream glucose production, sound absorber and others; the second is on research on road construction ...

    Kota Samarahan, 21 August 2017 – Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation) UNIMAS, Professor Dr Kopli Bujang gave welcoming speech on today’s soft launching of the Skilled Human Capital Development (SHCDC 2017) conference at DeTAR Putra, UNIMAS.

    The conference, starting today until 23 August 2017 and organized by Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) in collaboration with the Ministry of Human Resource, Sarawak State Government, Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF), Skills Development Fund Corporation, CEO@Faculty, Leadership Institute and Yayasan Serian.

    The conference theme “The way forward for Sarawak skilled human resources’ to support the strategic development of Sarawak through well-planned skills development of human resources.

    In his speech, Professor Kopli hoped all participants to take the opportunity to share innovative, ideas and best practices in the development of skilled human resources.

    “The main purpose of this lab session is to discuss Sarawak’s occupational skills profile. This profile has been developed through information gathered via a procedure called meta-ethnography.

    “This process is a unique, systematic, qualitative synthesis approach widely used to provide robust evidence and thus making important contributions to the overall development of related policies and practices of human resources development in particular,” he added.

    KOTA SAMARAHAN: Institutions of higher learning are advised to introduce new disciplines in line with the government’s emphasis on the  digital economy.

    Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg said the government on its part had allocated RM100 million per year to Yayasan Sarawak, to provide loans and scholarships to students studying cyber security and molecular engineering.

    He told a press conference yesterday that such disciplines were not available before, but were introduced due to the changing times.

    “Higher learning institutions need to introduce new courses in line with our (government) effort to move towards the digital economy where we will also be preparing for the Industrial Revolution 4.0…and the government is giving Yayasan Sarawak RM100 million every year to give loans and scholarships to prepare our human resources towards this,” he said.

    Abang Johari pointed out that he was able to increase the revenue of Yayasan Sarawak from 80 sen to RM50 per tonne in timber premium in order to build the state’s human capital.

    Earlier, he officiated at the closing of the Skilled Human Capital Development Conference (SHCDC) 2017 at the Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) campus here.

    Jaringan Komuniti FSKPM dalam Fiesta NBOS 2018

    Sarikei, Sarawak- 13-15 April 2018

    Fakulti Sains Kognitif dan Pembangunan Manusia (FSKPM) telah bersama-sama menjayakan Fiesta NBOS 2018 di Sarikei baru-baru ini. Fiesta NBOS ini merupakan salah satu aktiviti universiti yang dirancang oleh UNIMAS Engage. Selain itu, Fakulti Kejuruteraan (FK) juga telah menyertai Fiesta ini. FSKPM telah menawarkan Klinik Kaunseling dan Psikologi, Bengkel Motivasi untuk pelajar SPM dan STPM yang diketuai oleh Dr Amalia Madihie (Timbalan Dekan Keterlibatan, Industri, Komuniti dan Pengkomersilan) dan Dr Lee Jun Choi dari Program Psikologi, dan Pameran Kesihatan Mental. Seramai enam orang pelajar dari keempat-empat program iaitu Program Kaunseling, Program Psikologi, Program Pembangunan Sumber Manusia dan Program Sains Kognitif menyertai Fiesta ini dengan jayanya. Dengan peluang ini, Fiesta NBOS ini merupakan satu jaringan komuniti yang menjadi agenda Fakulti bagi memperkasakan Rakyat Sarawak.
