Kota Samarahan, 13th February 2020: Faculty of Cognitive Sciences and Human Development (FSCHD), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) successfully organized a CEO Talk by Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Seri Wong Siew Hai under the Academia-Industry Talent Exchange Program or AIXCHANGE: CEO @ FACULTY PROGRAM (CFP), at Tun Abang Salahuddin Islamic Centre, this morning.

Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Seri Wong has extensive experience in the electronics industry having served in various capacities in the electronics industry for about 30 years and was Vice President in INTEL and Dell’s Asia Pacific Customer Service Center.

Dato’ Seri Wong currently the Chairman of MAEI (Malaysian American Electronics Industry) and Chairman of AMCHAM (American Malaysian Chamber of Commerce) and board of a number of educational institutions including KDU and MMU.

The main objective of the event is to promote the sharing of knowledge and expertise that can be mutually beneficial to both academia and industry. It is one of the initiatives under AIxCHANGE involving the participation of leading figures from private companies, government-linked companies and multinational companies (MNCs) that will contribute to the sharing of experience and expertise to the university community.

The CEO Talk by Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Wong was attended by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Professor Dr Ahmad Hata Rasit, Dean FSCHD, Associate Professor Dr Surena Sabil, UNIMAS, Deans and Directors of Faculty and Institutes, members of UNIMAS and students.

The talk by Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Wong is entitled “IR 4.0 and You: Personal Journey to Corporate World. The onset of Industrial Revolution 4 (IR 4) would revolutionize the landscape of the industrial world and the sweeping change it brings would reshape and redefine the future job markets.

Hence, students would need to realign themselves to new opportunities and adapting to challenging new environment via creative retooling and life-long learning strategies. With Dato’ Wong’s illustrious curriculum-vitae, he would be the perfect person to relate his life-long experiences in industries to inspire students to set their sights to be as big achiever as Dato’ Seri and to inculcate in them the mental resilience and values needed to thrive in the 21st Century Digital Economy.

Associate Professor Dr Surena Sabil, the Dean for Faculty of Cognitive Sciences and Human Development, in her opening remark encourages students, especially the final year students to get ready mentally and emotionally to face the new challenge in IR 4.0 demands at workplace.

Dr Surena supports mental health and work life balance in individuals that shape them to be resilient in whatever they do in the future. By having CEO @Faculty will give inspiration to students and staff in general. Learning from the Pros in the industry will boost the motivation to succeed in the corporate world.
