Mahidol

Kota Samarahan, 15 January 2018 : The Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS), UNIMAS received a visit from a delegation from Mahidol University, Thailand earlier today.

The five-member delegation was led by Associate Professor Dr Rossarin Gray, the Director of the Institute of Population and Social Research (IPSR) of Mahidol University.

IPSR, which was established in 1971, is one of the premier research hub on population in Asia.

Its research niches are on (i) Society, Population and Family Changes, (ii) Population Ageing, (iii) Sexuality, Gender and Reproductive Health, (iv) Population, Environment and Health, and (v) Migration, Urbanisation and Labour.

According to the FSS Deputy Dean (Research and Postgraduate), Dr Arnold Puyok, this research focus of IPSR is very much in line with the niche area of the Faculty of Social Sciences as well as the current research that FSS staff are working on.

The main purpose of the visit is to explore the possibilities of collaboration between the two institutions, especially in the area of joint research and publication.

It was agreed that further discussions will be conducted and hopefully the two institutions can ink a Memorandum of Understanding, signifying our commitment to work together in the future.
