Kota Samarahan, 12 October 2017 :  The Faculty of Social Sciences, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) is organized a talk entitled “Issues and Challenges in Managing Malaysia’s Foreign Relations” by Dato’ Sri Anifah Aman, Minister Of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia at Arena Gemilang, DeTAR Putra UNIMAS, this morning.

Among the issues discussed during the talk are the implication of the rise of China, leadership change in the United States, threats of ISIS, the persistent claim on Sabah by the Philippines, and cross border security.

These issues give rise to a key question of how best they can be managed. Other than that, discussions may identify the other emerging international issues or challenges that may influence the course of Malaysia’s foreign policy.

In short, the objective of the talk is to discuss emerging issues and challenges in Malaysia’s foreign affairs, to provide a platform for students, and the general public at large, to share their views on foreign policy issues.

The talk also as a platform for the country’s top leader to engage the public on matters of foreign policy and attended by UNIMAS students (both undergraduate and postgraduate students) and staff, as well as the Federal and State’s head of government.

The moderator for the talk is Dr Arnold Puyok, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, UNIMAS. Also presents during the talk are UNIMAS Vice Chancellor, YBhg Professor Datuk Mohamad Kadim, who gives the welcome note and other members of UNIMAS top managements.
