For the first time, UNIMAS was honoured by the grand presence of the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Kuching, Mr Fu together with the Vice Chancellor of UNIMAS, YBhg. Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi as well as Dean of FMHS, Prof. Dr Hj Ahmad Hata bin Rasit.  The event was attended by over 500 guests including lecturers and students of UNIMAS, and certainly expanded compared to last year.  A big ‘thank you’ to the sponsors namely; Consulate of China, Malaysia, Medical Association and Pharmaniaga, whom have contributed to the smooth running of this event.

The unique highlight of the Chinese New Year Event are the various performances which includes 24 drums assembly, classic Shanghai themed singers, diabolo and wushu. The performances from diverse cultures in Malaysia are also showcased, namely ethnic dance as well as Indian dance, resembling a true Malaysian spirit.  All of these are performed by none other than students from FMHS. The event also featured 3 lucky draw sessions, sponsored by lecturers of FMHS.

Last but not least, the objective of this event is for everyone to appreciate the various cultures practiced in our beloved land of Malaysia, and to uphold the concept of unity in our hearts. In addition, it is also our fervent hope that this tradition of holding cultural performances to preserve and propagate our diversified Malaysian cultures can be passed down to the juniors to further glorify the name of UNIMAS.
