KOTA SAMARAHAN, 6 July 2018 : The Pacific Early Childhood Education Research Association, better known as PECERA, has successfully launched its 2018 annual conference on 6th July 2018 at Hilton Kuching, Sarawak, today.

It was officiated by YB Dato Sri Hajah Fatimah Abdullah, Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development, Sarawak.

PECERA 2018 is an auspicious occasion as it is the first ever PECERA annual conference to be hosted in Malaysia.

Dedicated to disseminating and supporting research in early childhood education within the Pacific area, PECERA 19th International Annual Conference will be held for 3 consecutive days starting 6th July until 8th July 2018 at Hilton Kuching.

The 3-day conference is designed for a broad range of professionals: teachers, doctors, educators, leaders and experts representing the wide variety of fields in early childhood. It aims to bring together those who are in the field by organizing discussions and sharing of researches, practices and developments. PECERA 2018 certainly marks an important event for early childhood education practitioners and researchers in Malaysia.

The theme of the conference is “Start Right, Begin The Journey Right For Every Child”. There are 185 participants, of which 148 are overseas participants from Japan, Korea, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, US and others.

Besides parallel sessions, the conference also features other activities like cultural workshops and five optional preschool visits within Kuching City. There are 80 papers and 64 poster presentations during the parallel sessions.

This year, PECERA features four keynote speakers which proudly include our own YB Dato Sri Hajah Fatimah who will present her paper after the launching ceremony.

Other illustrious keynote speakers are (1) Professor Deborah J. Stipek from Stanford University, (2) Dr. Frances Lee Moi Fah from Malaysia and (3) Professor Nirmala Rao from Hong Kong University.

In solidarity, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Sarawak Convention Bureau, HELP University, Persatuan Pengasuh Kanak-Kanak Berdaftar Sarawak (PPBS), Early Childhood Care & Education Council (ECCE) and Ministry of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development, Sarawak are collaboratively organizing this conference.
