    We are pleased to inform that the Research Methodology Seminar for Semester 2, 2020/2021

    Session will be held as follows:

    Date: 14, 15, 16 & 17 June 2021 (Monday Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday)

    Time: 1100 am – 1630 pm

    Venue: OnlineWe would like to refer to clause 10.1.2 of the Graduate Studies Regulation where it stated that all research students must have undergone the Research Methodology Seminar and passed the presentation held by the Faculty/Institute, in order to graduate. So therefore, it is a mandatory for all research students to attend this Research Methodology Seminar.

    Kampung Pulau Salak di Santubong yang terletak kira-kira 35 kilometer dari Bandaraya Kuching, merupakan sebuah perkampungan nelayan yang kaya dengan sumber alam semulajadi di laut dan juga daratan.

    Menyedari potensi industri akuakultur yang terdapat di perkampungan berkenaan, telah mendorong penyelidik daripada Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) yang diketuai oleh Profesor Madya Dr Saiful Bahari Mohd Yusoff untuk memperkenalkan kaedah mudah dan murah bagi penggemukkan ternakan ketam yang dipanggil ‘Floating Crab Farming’ (FCF).

    FCF adalah satu produk sepertimana sangkar yang dikenali sebagai sangkar apungan ketam, tagang ketam moden, rumah ketam atau keramba ketam yang mana produknya adalah bersifat mudah alih bersaiz 6 kaki panjang dan 4 kaki lebar tetapi mampu memuatkan 48 ekor ketam nipah/ bakau bersaiz C atau 24 ekor ketamber saiz A dan B.

    Ketam yang digemukkan daripada gred C ke gred B memakan masa selama 6 hingga 7 minggu manakala gred B ke gred A memakan masa selama 10 hingga 16 minggu bergantung kepada faktor persekitaran semasa, ujarnya.

    Antara jenis ketam untuk projek sangkar apungan ini seperti ketam kalok, ketam nipah, ketam bakau, atau nama saintifiknya adalah Scylla Olivacea, Scylla Tranquebarica dan Scylla Paramamosain.
