Announcement: UNIMAS AHA Training Site Course Calendar 2018 (2^nd Half)

The UNIMAS American Heart Association (AHA) Training Site is pleased to announce its latest course offerings for the second half of 2018.

UNIMAS is an official training site that offers the following AHA Courses:

• Courses for Healthcare Professionals:
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Course for Healthcare Providers
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Provider Course
  • AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Provider Course
• Courses for Non-Medically Trained Personnel:
  • AHA Heartsaver® First Aid, CPR & AED Provider Course

Enrolled participants will receive the official AHA course package upon registration. Participants who successfully fulfill the assessment (written and skills testing) requirements of the course will be awarded with an AHA provider status which is internationally recognized and valid for 2-years.

All courses will be conducted by AHA certified instructors in the Clinical Simulation Centre, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Kota Samarahan Campus. The training facility is fully equipped with simulators of varying fidelity levels to ensure our participants are fully immersed in the training programmes.

Pada 27 Ogos 2019, pihak Muzium Anatomi dan Patologi telah menerima rombongan pelawat daripada SMK Matang Jaya seramai 240 orang pelajar serta 23 orang guru pengiring.

Objektif lawatan ini adalah bertujuan untuk memberi pendedahan awal dan menyemai minat kepada para pelajar terhadap bidang sains perubatan. Selain daripada itu, pelawat juga memperolehi ilmu kesihatan dan info mengenai penyakit serta mendapat maklumat tentang penjagaan kesihatan.

Lawatan ini telah dikendalikan oleh Juruteknologi Makmal Perubatan iaitu Encik Mohamad Iswandy Bin Ibrahim, Encik Azhar Bin Abdul Aziz, Puan Liwan Lasem dan Puan Azimah Bt Hj Ahmad.

A 2 days Big Data and Data Analytics workshop was conducted at Islamic Information Centre, Kuching which were attended by 30 representatives from various agencies under the purview of Majlis Islam Sarawak and NGOs. The objective of the workshop is to provide a general overview and introduction to the area of Big Data and Data Analytics, sharing session on use case for Big Data and Data Analytics from UNIMAS, Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia and industry representative. The workshop also includes group discussion session on what data is available and required in each agencies, the challenges in data collection and governance and how Data Analytics can benefit the decision making and planning for each of the agencies and cross agencies. Facilitators for the session are from the Faculty of Computer Science and IT, UNIMAS whom are Associate Professor Dr Johari Abdullah, Associate Professor Dr Nooralamshah, Dr Dayang Hanani, and Dr Nadianatra.

Venue: Sarawak Biodiversity Centre, Semengoh, Padawan

The Honorable Chief Minister of Sarawak, Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg officiated the launching of the outdoor large scale algae cultivation facility which is a collaboration between Sarawak Biodiversity Centre and Mitsubishi Corporation which aims to produce algae for the usage of feedstock, biofuel and pharmaceutical industry. The outdoor facility which is part of the Phase 3 milestone for the collaboration is 1,000 meters square and is the biggest outdoor installation for algae cultivation in South East Asia.

One of the components of the facility is the adoption of IOT sensors to monitor the temperature, PH level, light intensity, and flow of water and is analysed using data analytics to provide early warning, automation and real time monitoring. This component is a collaboration between SBC and the Faculty of Computer Science and IT, UNIMAS.

Venue: IPG Rajang

A 3 days workshop on Sains Komputer subject for Secondary school is conducted for 13 participants whom are IPG lecturers and teachers from 2th to 29th Sept 2019 at IPG Rajang. This workshop is part of the continuous exercise by Ministry of Education, supported by MDEC and JPNS to provide sufficient training for teachers and the teaching lecturers at IPG on the technical content required for the delivery of Sains Komputer subject which is being offered in secondary school for Form 4 and Form 5 students.

Faculty of Computer Science and IT, UNIMAS has been appointed as the official MDEC Continuous Professional Development Centre since 2017 and is entrusted to conduct several workshops on Asas Sains Komputer and Sains Komputer subjects throughout Sarawak. The Master Training for this particular workshop is Associate Professor Dr Kartinah Zen.
