The UNIMAS American Heart Association (AHA) Training Site is pleased to announce its latest course offerings for the second half of 2018.

UNIMAS is an official training site that offers the following AHA Courses:

• Courses for Healthcare Professionals:
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Course for Healthcare Providers
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Provider Course
  • AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Provider Course
• Courses for Non-Medically Trained Personnel:
  • AHA Heartsaver® First Aid, CPR & AED Provider Course

Enrolled participants will receive the official AHA course package upon registration. Participants who successfully fulfill the assessment (written and skills testing) requirements of the course will be awarded with an AHA provider status which is internationally recognized and valid for 2-years.

All courses will be conducted by AHA certified instructors in the Clinical Simulation Centre, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Kota Samarahan Campus. The training facility is fully equipped with simulators of varying fidelity levels to ensure our participants are fully immersed in the training programmes.

Fin-Ace (Finance Student Association) has organized an inspiring and insightful mobility program - Academic & Cultural Exchange Trip to Tokyo, Japan this semester. The trip inclusive of 10 students are having the time of their life here in Reitaku University & Tokyo Japan from 15-23 April 2019. The Deputy Dean of HEPA of FEB, Dr Norazirah Ayob, Finance Program Coordinator, Naim Kamaruzaman, and lecturers, Azuriaty Atang, and Mohd Uzairi have accompanied the students.

The primary purpose of this trip is to expose the students of the Japanese culture, education system and business environments.

Other than the Reitaku University, the students are also going to visit MATRADE, Embassy of Malaysia at Tokyo, Muslim Professional Japan Association, Tokyo Stock Exchange and Bank of Japan.

Fin-Ace hopes that more similar programs were to be organised in future; for, students can have a fresh perspective and wholesome education experience that goes beyond the classroom.

‘Hello Healthy Hello Kitty’

KUCHING, 16^th of March 2019 – A total of 33 third year medical students from PPD 1032 Credited Co Curriculum (Sub core: Healthy Kitty, Core: Community Service) of UNIMAS organised a school health programme at SK Batu Lintang, Kuching, Sarawak supervised by Dr. Khatijah Yaman, a UNIMAS lecturer.

The programme was aimed to promote a healthy lifestyle and self- care among the 143 primary school students of Year 4, 5 and 6. The programme’s theme was ‘Hello Healthy Hello Kitty’ and it was focused on three aspects of healthy lifestyle which include healthy diet, physical fitness and personal hygiene.

The objectives of the programme were to instil the importance of balanced diet that follows the Ministry of Health’s guideline through sandwich making, food pyramid, promoting less sugar drinks, ‘Suku Suku Separuh’, and nutritious food.

The students were also taught on how to take care of their self-hygiene through a proper way of washing hands, brushing teeth and the benefits of showering. The programme also promoted the importance and ways of taking care of the physical and mental health through the activities of aerobic exercises and games.

4. To provide a forum for the flow of information on Borneo research arising from many diverse sources;

          Kementerian Tenaga, Sains, Teknologi, Alam Sekitar dan Perubahan Iklim (MESTECC) telah menerima pelawaan daripada Centre for Science and Technology of the Non-Aligned and Other Developing Countries( NAM S&T Centre) untuk menyertai Joint NAM S&T Centre - Zmt Bremen (Germany) Fellowship in "Tropical Coastal Marine Research": Call For Applications For 2019 anjuran bersama NAM S&T Centre dan Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT), Bremen, Germany.

        Program Fellowship ini akan berlangsung selama 3 bulan dan bidang penyelidikan yang menjadi keutamaan adalah bidang Ecology, Biogeochemistry, Geology, Theoretical Ecology dan Modelling, Social Sciences danTropical Coastal Marine Systems.

Antara aktiviti diadakan seperti gimik perasmian, Jom Baca 10 minit, Read Out Loud  yang dilakukan oleh tiga orang pelajar dari sekolah SK St. Martin, SK Empila dan SK Dato Mohd Musa Samarahan, persembahan nyanyian oleh Adik Sofia Arissa, Read and Write with Emerald, pameran dan jualan buku dan cenderahati, jualan makanan dan minuman (food truck)Yakub

Istimewanya Program Cinta Ilmu kali ini turut dihadiri oleh  Miss Planet International 2019, Cik Viviana Lin Watson,19, yang telah mewakili Malaysia ke peringkat antarabangsa untuk Miss Planet International pada 1 Mac 2019 di Cambodia dan telah merangkul anugerah 2nd runner up Miss Planet International 2019 bersandarkan minat membaca yang mendalam dan mempunyai pengetahuan am yang luas.
