Announcement: UNIMAS AHA Training Site Course Calendar 2018 (2^nd Half)

The UNIMAS American Heart Association (AHA) Training Site is pleased to announce its latest course offerings for the second half of 2018.

UNIMAS is an official training site that offers the following AHA Courses:

• Courses for Healthcare Professionals:
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Course for Healthcare Providers
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Provider Course
  • AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Provider Course
• Courses for Non-Medically Trained Personnel:
  • AHA Heartsaver® First Aid, CPR & AED Provider Course

Enrolled participants will receive the official AHA course package upon registration. Participants who successfully fulfill the assessment (written and skills testing) requirements of the course will be awarded with an AHA provider status which is internationally recognized and valid for 2-years.

All courses will be conducted by AHA certified instructors in the Clinical Simulation Centre, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Kota Samarahan Campus. The training facility is fully equipped with simulators of varying fidelity levels to ensure our participants are fully immersed in the training programmes.

16 May 2018 – The Credited Co-curricular (KoQ) Carnival Day 2018 was held at the UNIMAS Hall, Eastern Campus with the theme of ‘culture’. All sub cores under PPD1032 credited co-curricular were participated with their informational booth. Other governments agencies including Sarawak General Hospital, PTPTN, AADK and JPJ were also involved and held some activities.

Sub core Healthy Kitty (Core: Community Services) emphasized on basic health education. Healthy Kitty promoted on benefit on drinking healthy non sugary green tea, distributed health flyers and health posters from Ministry of Health (MOH), introduced a new MOH nutritional model, ‘Suku-suku Separuh’ and also capable to generate income from rental of Japanese attire and taking photos at the DIY Japanese photo booth.

The carnival was officiated by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni), YBhg Prof Mohd Fadzil Abdul Rahman and Dean of Centre for Student Development, UNIMAS, Prof Dr Siti Raudzah Ghazali. Vice Chancellor of UNIMAS,YBhg Prof Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim bin Suaidi has paid a visit to carnival booth in morning session.

KOTA SAMARAHAN, 29 April 2019 – Sebagai usaha menyemarakkan program membaca, Pusat Khidmat Maklumat Akademik telah mengambil inisiatif menganjurkan Program Cinta Ilmu selama dua hari bermula 29 April lepas sebagai menyokong Read@UNIMAS dan menarik minat membaca dan memupuk kecintaan kepada ilmu dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS.

Objektif program adalah untuk menyemarakkan semangat membaca dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS,memupuk kecintaan kepada ilmu pengetahuan, menggalakkan kempen menderma buku dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS serta meningkatkan kesedaran budaya membaca di kalangan masyarakat.

Antara aktiviti diadakan seperti gimik perasmian, Jom Baca 10 minit, Read Out Loud  yang dilakukan oleh tiga orang pelajar dari sekolah SK St. Martin, SK Empila dan SK Dato Mohd Musa Samarahan, persembahan nyanyian oleh Adik Sofia Arissa, Read and Write with Emerald, pameran dan jualan buku dan cenderahati, jualan makanan dan minuman (food truck)Yakub

Istimewanya Program Cinta Ilmu kali ini turut dihadiri oleh  Miss Planet International 2019, Cik Viviana Lin Watson,19, yang telah mewakili Malaysia ke peringkat antarabangsa untuk Miss Planet International pada 1 Mac 2019 di Cambodia dan telah merangkul anugerah 2nd runner up Miss Planet International 2019 bersandarkan minat membaca yang mendalam dan mempunyai pengetahuan am yang luas.

KOTA SAMARAHAN, 21 Mei 2018 : Rombongan Lembaga Pengarah Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) hari ini telah melakukan kunjungan hormat ke atas Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud di kediamannya di Demak Jaya, pagi tadi.

Rombongan tersebut telah diketuai oleh Pengerusi LPU yang baharu, Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Sulong Matjeraie.

Turut hadir sama ialah Naib Canselor UNIMAS, Profesor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim bin Suaidi, Timbalan Naib Canselor (Hal Ehwal Pelajar dan Alumni) UNIMAS, Profesor Mohd Fadzil bin Abdul Rahman, Timbalan Naib Canselor (Penyelidikan dan Inovasi) UNIMAS, Profesor Dr Wan Hashim bin Wan Ibrahim, Timbalan Naib Canselor (Akademik dan Antarabangsa) UNIMAS, Profesor Dr Hj Fasihuddin bin Badruddin Ahmad, Pengarah UNIMAS Global, Tuan Hj Azlan Bin Ramli dan Pegawai Khas Naib Canselor, Mohd Husaini Noorjaya Chew.

Kunjungan tersebut dilakukan bertujuan untuk memperkenalkan Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Sulong Matjeraie sebagai Pengarah LPU yang baharu berkuat kuasa 1 Mei 2018.

Perlantikan Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Sulong Matjaraie bagi menggantikan Datu Dr Hatta Solhi yang telah menerajui LPU selama lapan tahun.

Kota Samarahan,  30 August 2018: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Universiti Malaysia Sarawak and Estream Software Sdn. Bhd, Malaysia with the aim of establishing a basis upon which UNIMAS and Estream may explore areas for cooperation and collaboration such as research, staff engagement, industrial study visits and student industrial placement.

This event was officiated by Ybhg Professor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi as Vice-Chancellor, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak and Mr Desmond Law Hoe Yan, Managing Director of Estream Software Sdn. Bhd, Malaysia.

This event was witnessed by Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Associate Professor Michael Tinggi and Ms Ong Bee Wei, the Education Advisor of Estream Software Sdn. Bhd., as well as Unimas staff and other invited guests.

The Memorandum of Understanding is in line with UNIMAS's vision of being an exemplary university through the pursuit of excellence in teaching, research and scholarship.
