Kota Samarahan, 26 Januari 2018- Fakulti Sains Komputer dan Teknologi Maklumat (FSKTM) Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) telah menerima sumbangan sebanyak RM11,300.00 daripada YB IR Aidel Bin Lariwoo untuk melaksanakan program service learning pada tahun ini.
Program Service Learning telah dilaksanakan sejak September 2016, bermula Semester 1, 2016/2017 sehingga kini. Ia merupakan satu program di mana pelajar UNIMAS dan masyarakat setempat bekerjasama dan membudayakan perkongsian ilmu dan memanfaatkan kedua-dua pihak. Ini dengan erti kata lain komuniti dapat menyelesaikan masalah setempat dengan bantuan pelajar manakala pelajar dapat meningkatkan kemahiran insaniah dan jati diri.
Kebanyakan program yang dijalankan bersama masyarakat ialah berkongsi ilmu dan pendedahan meluas mengenai dunia ICT kepada komuniti setempat. Ini adalah sejajar dengan hala tuju ke arah Revolusi Industri (IR 4.0) dan secara tidak langsung menyumbang kepada usaha ke arah Digital Ekonomi Sarawak.
Sepanjang pelaksanaannya dari 2016, jumlah projek Service Learning yang terlibat adalah sebanyak 52 projek. Ini merangkumi 30 projek di kampung dan 22 projek di sekolah. Sejumlah 447 orang pelajar telah dilibatkan dalam Program Service Learning di kawasan Kuching dan Samarahan.
Terdapat 5 jenis projek yang telah dilaksanakan bersama-sama komuniti seperti :

KOTA SAMARAHAN, 26 Januari 2018 : Naib Canselor UNIMAS, Profesor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi mengumumkan penubuhan Centre of Big Data Analytics and Visualisation di bawah Digital Sarawak CoE semasa Majlis Amanat NC 2018 diadakan di Arena Gemilang, DeTAR PUTRA, pagi tadi.
Beliau berkata, pusat itu akan dipertanggungjawabkan untuk menjalankan penyelidikan dan pembangunan yang berkaitan Big Data Analytics bagi menyokong lapan sektor ekonomi utama iaitu pertanian, pelancongan, kesihatan, infrastruktur, pembuatan, teknologi kewangan, perumahan dan pengangkutan.
“ UNIMAS telah diberi kepercayaan oleh Kerajaan Negeri Sarawak untuk menyelaras Digital CoE Sarawak, bersama dengan rakan-rakan kita iaitu Kementerian Pendidikan, Sains, dan Penyelidikan Teknologi Sarawak, Swinburne University of Technology, Curtin University, UiTM, University College of Technology Sarawak (UCTS), Pusat Biodiversiti Sarawak, dan Kementerian Permodenan Pertanian, Tanah Adat dan Pembangunan Wilayah Sarawak (MANRED) telah diamanahkan untuk mengurus Digital Sarawak CoE.
“ Adalah penting bagi penyelidik kita untuk bekerjasama dengan rakan/agensi/industri luar atau penyelidik dari institusi lain dalam memastikan projek-projek mempunyai output / hasil ketara yang selari dengan lapan sektor ekonomi utama yang telah dikenalpasti,” sambung beliau.
Menurut Naib Canselor, pusat ini akan diterajui oleh penyelidik UNIMAS dari pelbagai fakulti termasuk penyelidik dari institusi akademik lain di Sarawak, ...

We would like to refer to clause 10.1.2 of the Graduate Studies Regulation where it stated that the pre-requisite for a thesis to be submitted for examination is that the student has undergone and passed the Research Methodology course. So therefore, all new students are invited to attend this course.

We are pleased to inform that the Research Methodology Seminar will be held as follows:
Date: 4 & 5 April 2018 (Wednesday & Thursday)
Time: 0900 - 1700 hrs
Venue: CTF1 (Room Seminar 4, 5 & 6)

KOTA SAMARAHAN, 29 April 2019 – Sebagai usaha menyemarakkan program membaca, Pusat Khidmat Maklumat Akademik telah mengambil inisiatif menganjurkan Program Cinta Ilmu selama dua hari bermula 29 April lepas sebagai menyokong Read@UNIMAS dan menarik minat membaca dan memupuk kecintaan kepada ilmu dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS.
Objektif program adalah untuk menyemarakkan semangat membaca dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS,memupuk kecintaan kepada ilmu pengetahuan, menggalakkan kempen menderma buku dalam kalangan warga UNIMAS serta meningkatkan kesedaran budaya membaca di kalangan masyarakat.
Antara aktiviti diadakan seperti gimik perasmian, Jom Baca 10 minit, Read Out Loud yang dilakukan oleh tiga orang pelajar dari sekolah SK St. Martin, SK Empila dan SK Dato Mohd Musa Samarahan, persembahan nyanyian oleh Adik Sofia Arissa, Read and Write with Emerald, pameran dan jualan buku dan cenderahati, jualan makanan dan minuman (food truck)Yakub
Istimewanya Program Cinta Ilmu kali ini turut dihadiri oleh Miss Planet International 2019, Cik Viviana Lin Watson,19, yang telah mewakili Malaysia ke peringkat antarabangsa untuk Miss Planet International pada 1 Mac 2019 di Cambodia dan telah merangkul anugerah 2nd runner up Miss Planet International 2019 bersandarkan minat membaca yang mendalam dan mempunyai pengetahuan am yang luas.

KOTA SAMARAHAN, 26th January 2018: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) recently bagged a total of 15 medals at the Seoul International Invention Fair 2017 (SIIF2017) and International Conference and Exposition on Inventions by Institutions of Higher Learning (PECIPTA17) 2017.
Vice Chancellor, Professor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim at a Press Conference yesterday said UNIMAS has obtained two gold, two silver and I bronze medals at SIIF2017 which was held at the COEX Korea Exhibition Center in Seoul, Korea from 30th Nov – 3rd Dec, 2017.
“ While at PECIPTA17, UNIMAS achieved 1 gold, 2 silver and 7 bronze. PECIPTA17 was held from 7-9 October 2017 at Kuala Nerus, Terengganu,” he continued.
Vice Chancellor said SIIF2017 was organised by the Korea Invention Promotion Association (KIPA) with the support from World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA) and participated by 630 inventions, originating from 30 countries including Poland, Malaysia, France, the USA, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Yemen, Ghana, Japan, Lebanon, China, Egypt, Germany, Vietnam, Singapore, Russia, Croatia, India, Iran, Taiwan, UAE, Thailand, Indonesia, Mexico and Uzbekistan.

Kota Samarahan, 30 August 2018: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Universiti Malaysia Sarawak and Estream Software Sdn. Bhd, Malaysia with the aim of establishing a basis upon which UNIMAS and Estream may explore areas for cooperation and collaboration such as research, staff engagement, industrial study visits and student industrial placement.
This event was officiated by Ybhg Professor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi as Vice-Chancellor, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak and Mr Desmond Law Hoe Yan, Managing Director of Estream Software Sdn. Bhd, Malaysia.
This event was witnessed by Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Associate Professor Michael Tinggi and Ms Ong Bee Wei, the Education Advisor of Estream Software Sdn. Bhd., as well as Unimas staff and other invited guests.
