The Department of Civil Engineering has successfully carried out our Corporate Social Responsibility Programe on the 28 April 2019. The Programe, 'Engineers and the Community', brings together the entire civil engineering Department with 20 final year students from the Engineering Ethics class, to volunteer at the School of the Mentally Handicapped Children (PERKATA) in the school's fund raising program.
The CSR program aims to reach out to the community in order to assist the less fortunate segments of the public. We want to remember that our duties and responsibilities as engineers do not only limit to the clients of our projects but also our works serve the society and public in general. We hope that through students involvement, they are make aware that there is an intrinsic link between engineers and the society. It is also hoped that the students learn about teamwork and cooperation; and working with joyful and giving hearts.
The students and staff members worked on the planning, logistics and promotion of the sales event. The staff members also contributed in monetary form in order to help out. It was a successful event and the Department raised RM3335 for the School.
