UNIMAS ranked 201 in The Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings

Kota Samarahan 4 April 2019; The Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings are the only global performance tables that assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).Announced in last Tuesday, UNIMAS has been ranked 201 in the world for SDGs.
The Times Higher Education (THE)carefully calibrated indicators to provide comprehensive and balanced comparisons across three broad areas: research, outreach, and stewardship. The 17 goals were adopted by the UN in 2016 and provide a framework for developing the world in a sustainable way.
The first edition of the ranking will include metrics based on 11 SDGs, but the long-term goal is to measure performance against all 17 goals. The 11 metric based SDGs include SDG 3 Good health and well-being, SDG 4 Quality education, SDG 5 Gender equality, SDG 8 Decent work and economic growth, SDG 9 Industry, innovation, and infrastructure, SDG 10 Reduced inequalities, SDG 11 Sustainable cities and communities, SDG 12 Responsible consumption and production, SDG 13 Climate action, SDG 16 Peace, justice and strong institutions and SDG 17 Partnerships for the goals.
There are only 560 universities around the world which are selected to participate and being short-listed.The announcement made by THE Impact Ranking last tuesday proclaims that UNIMAS is placed at number 201 in the world. The result is based on the performance of top three SDGs in which, for the first top SDG, UNIMAS is ranked as number 69 for SDG 16 Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions. The second top SDG is SDG 4 Quality Education where UNIMAS is ranked as number 101 and the third is SDG 5 Gender Equality in which UNIMAS is also ranked as number 101.
In addition, the other SDGs which UNIMAS are ranked are SDG 8 Decent Work and Economic Growth as number 101, SDG 10 Reduced Inequalities as number 101, SDG 3 Good Health and Wellbeing as number 201, SDG 9 Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure as number 201, SDG 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities as number 201, SDG 12 Responsible Consumption and Production as number 201, SDG 13 Climate Action as number 201 and SDG 17 Partnership for the Goals as number 301.
