Kota Samarahan, 13 December 2018 : Using technology to make an even bigger impact in the world, especially for the benefit of communities and businesses, leading towards sustainable progress for members of communities around the world.

This was the key objective of the Ideathon 2018, a platform providing our youth with the opportunity to explore possible solutions for everyday problems.

A collaborative effort between The Telecommunication Technology Committee (TTC) Japan, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) and University College of Technology Sarawak (UCTS), this two - day event starting on 5 until 6 December 2018 saw the participation of 74 bright young minds across faculties from both UNIMAS and UCTS.

The competition was organised at the new myCapsule Space Lab, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, UNIMAS, which was designed to stimulate creative and critical thinking.

Over a period of 24 hours, the participants worked hard with their teams, constructing ideas to integrate with the themes selected for the event, which were eEducation, eHealth, eAgriculture, eDisaster Management, eEnvironment Management, eTourism and Smart Cities.

Each team worked endlessly to come up with the best solution to their identified problems, before pitching their ideas in front of an international judging panel of Computer Science and Information Technology experts.

At the end of the exciting 24 hours, the team SMART LRB was chosen as the Ideathon 2018 champions. Team members Bhavani A/P Renganathan, Rupini A/P Muniandy, Logasshini A/P Nilavezhilan, addressed issues and solutions in the area of e-Disaster.
