YOUTH DOME IN STEEL (YouDo) COMPETITION

On 14th March 2017, University Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) has sent a team of five students from Faculty of Engineering, Civil Department entering an annual competition organised by MSSA/CIDB. The competition is called MSSA/CIDB Open Ideas Competition 2017 - Youth Dome in Steel [You Do].

The Open Idea Competition 2017 guarantees an exceptionally challenging project designed in steel. The project, Dome(s) for youth see more than 10 colleges of 30 groups and 150 understudies going after the MSSA Challenge trophy and RM28, 000.00 in real money prizes. The configuration will reflect advancement, manageability, cost adequacy in the vault moulded structure that sits on a 5 acre site. The dome will fill in as the youth meeting point for occasions of their advantage.

The essential expectation of this design competition is to give students from architecture and civil engineering in Malaysia with the special chance to work together in a building outline that utilizes steel as the primary auxiliary and completing material. It is for these students to get a handle on the reality that building configuration does not exist in the ward of the designer or structural specialist separately, yet it is a method for them to touch base at a significant acknowledgment of both architectural fascination and structural manifestation. It plans to cross over any barrier between the training of architecture and civil engineering.
