On 29th & 30th Mac 2017, CALM had organized the ‘Active, Interactive, Immersive: Tips and Techniques to Enhance Learner Engagement Workshop’ at CALM Training Room, UNIMAS. The workshop was conducted by Tuan Haji Syahrul Nizam Junaini from the Faculty of Computer Science & Information Technology. He was the recipient of UNIMAS Teaching Award 2015 and also the finalist of the most prestigious 10th National Academic Award (AAN) for the Teaching Category.

The two-days workshop has equipped the participants with practical tips on how to execute a plan towards a more active, interactive and immersive learning experience among their students. A total of 27 participants from various faculties attended the workshop. The concept of learner engagement were discussed including how to construct an action plan and apply various methods to engage learners.

Day 1 covers the concept of learning engagement, active learning and interactive teaching. This is followed by hands-on session using Morpheus and Web 2.0 tools to engage students. On day 2, participants werer exposed to the interesting concept of heutagogy and gamification in learning. Web 2.0 tools were used for collaborative and game-based learning. In addition, MOOC and Web 2.0 tools were used for content creation and curation.
